For anyone who has booked a cruise....

I didnt realize this until just recently - if you book a cruise and the price goes down after you pay, some cruise lines will refund you the difference!!!

I just saved $800 by calling and checking!!

Only before you make your final payment. Once your final payment is made its pretty hard to get them to lower the price but sometimes they will give you a shipboard credit or some other 'perk'.

Nope - I made my final payment over a month ago. I figured they wouldnt give me the $$ back but I figured I might as well ask expecting an upgrade - well they gave the money back without even an argument!! Woo-hoo!

Ive heard not every cruise line does this but Royal Carribbean is especially generous in this area so that is a big plus for RCCL.

RCCL is def known for that. Paul and I recently cruised to Bermuda and everyone was talking about how they recieved $$ back

SonicStef...That's awesome. I KNEW I got screwed by my travel agent! She said there was nothing she could do once I paid my final payment. Next time I think I'll save myself the hassle and book my cruise myself.

One tip from when I took my cruise. Bring a over-the-door shoe hanger for all your toiletry items (lotions, brushes, shampoo...) Counter space is so limited that this really made the room more organized and made it a lot easier when the cabin attendants came in to clean. You can get them cheap at Target.

Hi everyone, I am a travel agent so from the inside, before final payment the cruiseline will give you your money back, and your travel agent should but you never know people these days, as far as after final payment it is tricky, the cruiseline might or might not give it back it isn't always the travel agent who isn't being honest but sometimes they will do something else like a shipboard credit or a bottle of wine. I was very surprised that we got our money back since other travel situations like that (airfare, etc..) you dont get squat when the price goes down!

Ive heard RCCL was one of the few lines to do it but I can say that if thats the case, I will be loyal to them (assuming we enjoy ourselves).

Thanks for the toilery case tip...I think the ship we are going on has a medicine cabinet in the bathroom so we should be ok...but its still a great tip in general.

Edited to add: I would have been pretty furious if RCCL didnt give us our $800 but gave us a bottle of wine instead!!

actualy, I know there are some airlines that will honor the lower price as well. I know American does in some situations (depending on type of ticket, etc).
