One of my friends at work suggested I get extensions because my hair isn't growing as fast as I thought it would. I am totally clueless about it too. I have really thick curly hair.

Just make sure they are human hair NOT synthetic, because I was told the fake hair can not be curled with a curling iron, they will burn and/or melt.

I agree - don't get permanant - get clip in. I would reccomend human hair... and get good ones. I had 2 trials with 2 different types and I can't tell you what a difference it makes to have the good ones. My hair looked SO NATURAL with the 3rd trial I had using 'good fakes', with the bad fakes it looked plastic, they were all human hair.

You can buy what is called 'tracks' of hair and then they pin in the pieces. I wouldn't get the permanent. If you live/work in the city there are cheaper places. I got mine for $25 and it is real human hair.

I got the permanent ones this time last year. RUINED MY HAIR. I had to cut it all off. Now, it is so badly damaged, it is disgusting. Just use the clip ones, they look just as real, if not better than the permanent and won't jack up your real hair!!! trust me 1K down the drain!!!! I pulled them out in less than a month! Hated them.

i wouldn't even think of real extensions... my hair is finally growing and i actually like it day to day. my sister-in-law's cousing does real extensions in the city so i could have gotten them for cheap but it's not something i want to do. i'm just looking for help the day of. my hair girl says my hair looks thin but it's decieving because i do have a lot of hair. i just need length!! looks like tri-county is the place to go? i live in suffolk... anyone know of anyplace closer to me?

Carmella from Happily Ever After is doing my hair and we're going to go on a field trip together to tri-county to the wigand pieces booth, she uses them and says they're great!

I have shoulder length hair too, but I know I will have some extensions on my BIG DAY because I want half up and half down and I want the curls to fall past my shoulders. You could have the pieces sewn in (sections of your hair are braided very very small) and it is NOT harsh on your hair at all. It lasts a long time too I wore my sewn in extensions for 4 weeks this summer when I went to Miami and Mexico. Let me know if you want me to post a pic.

I had extensions put in for the wedding (Great lengths) and they are FANTASTIC!! Pictures in my album. I'm able to wash, blow, curl, iron my hair and it blended in perfectly with my hair. It was done with keratin tips and bonded on to my own hair.

My hairdresser clipped them in for me with tons of bobbys...they stayed fine. She did dye my hair a little darker to match them.
