Besides the actual outfit you're bringing the baby home in... what else are you wrapping the baby up in to keep them warm? Do you get a coat?

I got one of those sleeper-type coat... it's fleece. You can also use one of these (bundle-me)

Those are THE BEST INVENTION EVER! All the babies needed were a sweater (the Gap has great zip up ones) and a hat with the seat covers.

We had fleece snowsuits for them as well, but even though they were a newborn size they were swimming on them and seemed very uncomfortable.

Remember - you'll only have to walk from the front door to the car (and most hospitals have a special place for new families to go home from).

I got mine at BRU (I think it was $20).

I HIGHLY recommend to all winter mommys that you get a Bundle Me. This thing is wondereful. My baby is never overheated, and never cold. I love this thing.

I got a beautiful white snowsuit and I can't wait to see my baby in it!! But if it's too big, I'll have to bring something else too...

DKA- I am not sure if the baby will fit in the carseat in a snowsuit. I know Annalise did not. After bundling her up in it and getting to the car, we saw she did not fit in it with the suit on. I had to stand under the hospital awning in the cold (and it was puring) while DH adjusting the straps back down to fit her with clothes only. Then I put blankets on her. I know they are not even supposed to wear a jacket when in the carseat. The straps have to fit snug against their body. I think the Bundle Me is the way to go.
