For brides who are getting married at their reception venue...
Re: For brides who are getting married at their reception venue...
We haven't decided on our officiant as of yet...but whomever it is going to be (either FHs cousin who is a Msgr. or FHs sister or a dear friend of mine) will be invited to the reception. I would probably extend the invite to an officiant whether we knew them personally or not. I think it's nice to have the person who married you celebrating with you.

I didn't invite mine b/c he just married us..we had no relationship with him.

ALL of mine came!! ( The good thing about this though is that your Officiant counts as a vendor if they attend!)

I think it depends on how well you know the officiant. If it's a one time person who you don't know well, no reason to invite. If you have some special relationship or he/she has done other events for your family, maybe yes.

Hmmm...this is meant as no offense to anyone - just an observation/question...but if someone marries you - stranger or not - isn't there a bond there based on that reason alone?

Yes, because our first choice is FH youth pastor from when he was young and he is from out of town (we will also provide a hotel room for him if he needs it), our 2nd choice, again yes b/c he is also an OOT, 3rd choice yes, because it is the pastor at FH church.

The rabbi marrying us also did FH's Bar Mitzvah 20 years ago and was his teacher for Hebrew school and stuff. Lots of history there, so we will definitely be inviting him. Not sure if he will stay, but it's the thought that counts I guess.
