My ceremony will be at 11:30am and I was worried about photos. My friend got married and had a daytime wedding and hated her pics because the sun was directly overhead and cast all these harsh shadows on her face.
Did any of you have this problem? Do you think she just had a bad photographer?
thanks!

Obviously, I don't know the details of your friend's outdoor ceremony, but a great photographer will work with the available lighting to get good shots.
My ceremony was outside, on a super sunny day, and I adore my pics. IMO, there aren't any harsh shadows. If you're curious, here's a link to my pics, I think the ceremony ones start around page 7 or 8: here.
The ceremony started at 12:30, to give you an idea of timing.

Re: ? for brides who had daytime outside ceremonies
we're getting married at 11:30am in Aug.... and my parents talked us into getting married indoors. I still think outdoors is way prettier but she said outdoors in August is brutal for guests, people look squinty in pictures and get all sweaty
to be honest, all of the outdoor pictures i've seen looked great -- I didn't pay attention to which month they were though. a few had veils and dresses blowing a little funny but i thought it was cute

I'm pretty sure your photographer touched them up given how sunny it was but they did a spectacular job -- your pictures are flawless!!!

Hehe, maybe so. What do I know from photography? All I know is I my pics! Thanks so much for the compliments!
The reason I mentioned the lighting, though, is I remember my photogs discussing between them constantly about lighting.

Re: ? for brides who had daytime outside ceremonies
Naturally there will be some squinting in the sun but we were married at 11:30 on the beach & our pictures are gorgeous. I think your friend had a bad photographer.
here's ours. It should be noted that I have really tiny eyes and so I always look kind of squinty. But everyone else's eyes are normal. Also, you'll see that none of us are sweaty, even though it was 85 degrees.
Re: ? for brides who had daytime outside ceremonies
I got married outside at 12 noon. We started taking pictures at 9am till 11:30 am. It was a very sunny day. Some of my proofs have people squinting...but very few out of my 1500. As soon as the photogropher saw squinting he repositioned us or had his lighting assistant use that screen thingy.

I think it depends on the photographer. A good one should definitely know how to get great pics no matter what the lighting conditions.
