For brides who have guest flying to their wedding....

Thanks to another bride I found out that American Airlines offers discount airline tickets for people who are flying to a wedding. You need to have at least 10 people who need to fly, but you don't have to guarentee or pre-pay for anything.
Even if your guests chose to fly with another airline it looks nice that you went to the trouble to arrange for the discount.
Here is the plan info:

Our comprehensive wedding package includes:

5% discount off the lowest published air fare (10% savings for tickets purchased 60 days prior to departure).

Complimentary scripted wedding inserts for invitations being sent to out of town
guests, notifying them of the discount.

Special car rental rates available with Avis Rent-a-car.

As our wedding gift to you, you will receive a wedding packet for every 10 ticketed passengers containing the following items:
-2 one-way single cabin domestic upgrades, (maximum 4 one-way upgrades. Valid on American Airlines or American Eagle)

-Discount coupon with Avis Rent-a-car(one coupon per contract)
-4 complimentary drink or headset coupons.

To request the wedding product for your guests, please contact American Airlines
Group and Meeting travel via E-mail and include this message or call toll-free 1-800-545-8193, Monday through Friday between 7am and 7pm, Central Time.

US Air also does this. I set a program up with them. Like michele31 said if nothing else it looks nice.

And the first person who calls will get a discount -- regardless if 10 people reserve or not.

This is nice, but...

Is there any exception for locations that the guests are traveling from, or is the discount across the board? Even if they are flying from close proximity to the wedding site? Will the airline still discount 5-10% on fares that are cheaper than $100?

You just have to pick a city destination. They can pick any airport in NY as the destination. It doesn't matter where they leave from.
