For Catholic brides who had (will have) a nuptial mass

For Catholic brides who had (will have) a nuptial mass

How long was it (will it be)? We are scheduled to have a 3pm mass (with 6pm cocktail hour) and are rethinking due to the amount of daylight that will be left for outdoor pics. According to the Farmer's Almanac the sun will set at 4:48pm

Our pre-cana mass was just about 50 minutes and that was with calling about 16 couples to the altar to receive individual blessings. I just don't know what to do and I'm afraid the priest will ask why we don't want to have a mass anymore and my daylight excuse just is not valid enough in the church's eyes.

Maybe I should just call the church and ask about how long a Nuptial Mass is....but was just wondering how long all of yours were.

I'm stressing BIG time over this! THANKS!!

it depends on your priest, but ours was maybe 40-45 minutes.

My priest told us that a Nuptial Mass will last 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes, then there would be a receiving line.

We are doing a ceremony, and that should be between 30-40 minutes.

A lot of Churches aren't doing Nuptial masses, you're lucky that was an option for you

I think mine took about 45 minutes. If you are stressing about it, you should call the church. Some priests could go alot longer!

My pastor told me 45 minutes - an hour.

Thanks girls! I just sucked it up and called the church. They said about an hour, give or take depending on how long the processional takes, how many people are receiving communion, how long it takes us to exchange vows, rings, etc.... A ceremony is 45 - 50 minutes for the same reasons.... we now have some decisions to make.

Thanks again!!

i originally had the church for around your time... then found out when the sun set, and there wouldnt be much time for pictures outside so we decided to move the church time up!
