For CLM Brides only

For CLM Brides only

I went there today and loved the place. However, the date that I wanted was booked yet on my alterative day, they had the room upstairs available. I am wondering from previous CLM brides and current ones who about to get married there, which room is better? I like them both (the bottom floor have the skylight while upstairs still have a waterfront view). I am more concerned about my 80+year old grandma traveling up the stairs. Help.

I am sorry to hear that your date is already booked...both rooms are beautiful though! I think it depends on what you are looking for. Obviously, if you are looking for the skylight, then no, the upstairs room wont work. However, if you just want waterviews, the upstairs is still lovely for that! As for the stairs, this has been a concern of other brides'. You are not alone. CLM is apparently waiting on town permits to put in an elevator. I was told that they are very helpful in making sure that all guests can safely make it up stairs, even to the point of carrying them on chairs...i hope that helps you! It really is an amazing place...dont let the stairs get in your way of making adecision....it will all work out!

just an fyi for anyone in the town of babylon.. babylon ***** for wanting to get permits, even if you are buying a house or refinancing if your bank requests a certificate of occupancy search, you are screwed into waiting b/c they take 6-8 weeks to LOOK at your request and do not accept rushes unless you know someone.

but CLM is beautiful and nick and loy are amazing and will do anything for you. including holding your grandma's hand down the stairs or like lmt said, holding her on a chair

Yea they have been waiting for those permits forever. I really need to talk to the mayor of Lindy and investigate that since I know him.

I am having my reception upstairs and honestly I like it up there. BUT I am not having a ton of people at our wedding. I think if your having over 200 people downstairs would be suitable. I am only having about 100 so upstairs is perfect.

definetely dont settle for the room upstairs. the room downstairs is absolutely gorgeous. we were gonna get married there and we werent going to go with the room upstairs. even when they offered less money. its not worth it. the photos are gonna be 100 times better downstairs too.

Gladly the Sunday after the orginal date, October 5 is open as well as September 21, the Sundays before and after. I do have to call Lou back tomorrow to make sure which room is available so I know what to do. So far I am leaning towards the October one but forgot which room is available for the afternoon wedding. I really would have loved to have it on that weekend that I orginally picked, since it is also my grandmother's 89th birthday and wanted to honor her in a special way during the festivites. I just hope October 5th isn't too cold for an outdoor wedding. LOL Would love to do the yacht enterance.

I am going to go back to my pics I took earlier and see which is better.

Here are a couple of pics of upstairs and downstairs. If we do have under 150, we'll take upstairs but it looks like we're leaning towards 175-200 at this point.

I am having about 130-160 people and am hoping that the upstairs room will accomodate it well. I am not worried about the size of the upstairs room (which I booked for next summer) but I am worried that the dance floor is a bit small. Also, the bridal suite is much smaller up there and so are the bathrooms. My biggest concern however is the carpet. It's old, ugly and wripped at the seams where they installed the new dance floor. Lou said they are putting in new carpet but I won't believe it until it happens b/c aparently that's been on their to-do list almost as long as 'put in an elevator' has (years)! So I am nervous about those things but definitely excited about CLM. I hear the food and service are great!

Hey darlin -

Make sure when you talk to Lou that you ask about the boat and outdoor wedding. They close up the boat and dock early....FH & I asked when they closed it up but neither of us remember...

Just something to think about...

i feel like there was a thread about the stairs situation about a month or so ago. The CLM people told the bride that the permit is in the works, but if there isn't an elevator by then they'd carry the guest up on a chair (??)

Yes - that is what they do. They have a chair they use and people are carried up the stairs. We asked for our January wedding and he said there is no way it'd be done by then...

Re: For CLM Brides only

yea basically i don't think they are getting that elevator in place anytime soon.

As everyone says downstairs is deff. a different type of room and feel. It is very open and you can just walk in and outside as much as you like with out walking down the stairs. I love both rooms to be honest. But I think if anyone had the choice they would pick downstairs but that being said I picked the upstairs due to the reason I gave above - size & mins. If i was having a larger wedding I would of gone for the downstairs room - so you may want to reconsider your date if its that important to you. My fh really wanted the usptairs room because he hated the bigness the main floor gave - but this is us.
