For girls who did or are doing a honeymoon cruise?

How formal are the formal nights?

Our cruise has two formal nights and two semi formal nights.

Should I get really dressed up for the formal and then have a cocktail dress for the semi?

I think that every cruise is different, some are more laid back than others .Some people get completely dolled up and others prefer a simple dress, its really up to your style what to do.

It sounds like you're cruise might be on the fancier and side especially if it has so many formal/semi formal nights.

The last cruise I went on we didn't even bother going to the formal night. In fact we rarely ate in the dining room. I'm not the dressing up type, plus it was one of the nights we were on the island and we didn't want to head back to the ship to go do dinner.

Since it IS your honeymoom, i'm sure you'd want to dress up at least once!!! You could probably get away with a nice dress or skirt with a few tops for variety.

My suggestion is to search on the internet , there's a lot of sites out there that can give you suggestions of what to pack and how formal is formal.

It depends on the cruise line. But even Carnival gets very formal on formal nights. Lets put it this way -- on the Formal nights, most ladies wear gowns (like floor length) and men wear tuxes or suits. On the semi-formal nights, a cocktail dress will do and for guys, a sports jacket and dockers.
