did your RH still make you pay for their plates if you already met your minimum?

ETA: what about day-of or week-of cancellations?

Yes... once you give the final count to them that's the number you pay for. They might throw other things in for you (like an extra dish at cocktail hour) but they might not.

You have to give them your final final number and pay way before the day of your wedding. So yes, if people don't show on the day of, you've already paid. You should make sure your RH will pack up those plates/dinners for you in that event.

Yes we still had to pay for the no shows but they sent their dinners home with us.

Yes - you have to pay. However, I had 2 cancellations between when I gave the final count (Saturday) and when I dropped off the place cards and tables at the RH (Monday). They gave DH and I a check the night of our wedding for those two!

If I would have known better I would have given them a lower headcount. We had 5 no shows, two we knew about a few days before and were able to fill 1 space, but we had already paid and didnt get refunded for the rest.

Once you give your final payment you can add on but you cannot decrease your count even if it is more than the minimum.WM packed up the plates for us from the no shows.

We knew of two people who were a 'maybe' right before we gave in our count.

We wound up cutting our final count by 7 people, which included these two.

On the actual day, we only had two people that didn't show.

Our RH didn't charge us for the 'extra' people that were there. However, we did have three people (who RSVP'd NO) show up AFTER dinner and FIL INSISTED they be fed. Needless to say I had to pay for them.

Yeah, we still had to pay. We didn't meet our minimum with guests, but we did once our vendors were factored in, we were 3 over. Day of we had 6 cancellations and 2 no shows, but had 2 replacements, so we were 6 short. We got some food to take home, and some pastries, but definitely not 6 plates worth. So in a sense, we still had to pay.

Check with your RH. Ours was flexible, so we had to give a final count the week of but were able to change the count up to the day before. Most don't seem to be this way, but it's worth asking.

as a precaution I subtracted 5 people from my final count and sure enough that is what I had day off!! So I did not lose any money

That is exactly what we did. And my parents were VERY happy for the leftovers.

Yes, once my final count was in it was in. However, they didn't make me give a final count until about 3 days prior which was close enough for me! I actually only had one couple no show and a few couples come as singles...

My advice is make sure you give your final count and payment on the last day possible.
We did it the Tuesday before our Saturday wedding, and while we were driving to the RH we had someone call to say they weren't bringing a guest.

We gave the RH a count of 2 less people, we had a situation where one of my best friends was pregnant and due the day of the wedding. Thank god they let us do that, because she gave birth the day before our wedding!

We did have 2 no shows, just 1 couple. They had already been paid for ahead of time, so it was a wash.

We paid the Saturday before, and we thought we might have two additional people, they told us to wait until day before to let them know, and that we could pay the day of which was great. We actually had one couple not show due to illness so it worked out.
