FH and I are sending out our STDs soon and we're going to put an insert in them letting guests know where we reserved the rooms, what the code is, etc. Can anyone provide an example of what this insert looks like, and what information is supposed to go on it?

Yeah definitely do an insert! We sent out our STDs which were magnets 'zotted' onto postcards which had a poem on it and our names and date on it written largely. On the magnet we discretely put our website with all the hotel block info, and only 3 or 4 families out of about 50 have checked out our site so far! I'll have to keep that in mind when sending out our invites that a lot of people don't check out websites and we will just do everything the old fashioned way, in paper as well.
I feel so bad, I want to send out another STD with the hotel block info. haha

Haha, yeah we're including website info on the STD as well, but I wanted to do inserts for the same reason. I'm not sure how many people will actually look at the website! I'm sure you'll be fine, though. I feel like most people will wait until close to the deadline to book their rooms anyway, so sending hotel info with the invite should be fine :)

i didn't do an STD insert, just put the website on the STD and made sure to keep the website updated with OOT guest info

we got business cards during a vistaprint sale and just said
'a block of rooms has been reserved for your convenience
Hotel name address phone number
reservation name: lastname1/lastname2 Special rate of: $$$ (Friday and Saturday)'
I've seen a lot of STDs/invitations come without the rate too and I think I will actually leave the price off when we send out the actual invitations. or you could just put your wedding website so they can look up the accommodation info.

We didn't send the hotel block info with the STD..
We did email those people who we thought would be staying over with the info 6 months out to let them know it was there.
People didn't really start booking until they rec'd the invite -- and we are still waiting for some to book and its 45 days away
If you are getting married over a big weekend then I'd def send it out early and stress that it will fill up fast!!

this is what I did as well
I included the hotel information with the invitation, and people were able to book then

Save yourself the headache. Send the accommodation card with the invitation. Guaranteed people will wait until the last minute to book their room.

I got my STDs from minted.com because we could print wedding info on the back of the card. The front had the topline info and on the back we put the hotel block and additional travel info. Worth taking a look since they run a good amount of promos and you can find deals on gilt.
