For girls who's shower wasnt/isnt a surprise

mine isnt...its on Sunday...everyone basically knows its not a surprise but now i feel silly walking in. what do i do when i walk in??? im not gonna act pretend surprise, that would be retarded, imo, lol.

also, just to give a little background, my girls were gonna do the shower but my mom ended up doing it and was excited to do it with me so with could spend some 'quality time together' lol...cuz we dont cuz i dont like to lolol. anyway, so this was a nice thing for her and i didnt really want a surprise anyway and now im always hacving to justify it to people and its like they are coming down on me...i know they are not doing it to make be feel bad but its making me feel like they think im not humble. its not that at all...my mom just wanted to do this with me but its as if they dont believe me

i just dont want to feel stupid at my shower

i knew the day of my shower but not the place so i knew i was headed there. honestly...when you have a mass amount of people in your face its overwhelming and you will naturally show reaction on your face so i think you will be ok

If it were me, I'd show up early...its like any other party in your honor (like a birthday party or something) so I'd want to be there and then have people arrive like that, not the other way around...then I could greet them as they came instead of having to go around to everyone right when I walked in. HTH!

I feel the same way. A lot of people know that I know when my shower is going to be and are annoyed, esp. my FMIL. I think I'm just going to walk in smiling and just say thank you and that I'm so happy to see everyone/excited they could make it and that I will get to spend time with them...but I know what you mean about people making you feel like a jerk that you know.

Just walk in with a smile and an excited look. I am sure you will be naturally so it won't come off 'fake'

Have fun too!!! Oh and I think it is really nice you and your mom planned it together. It sounds like it really meant something to her and hopefully you too

ITA I was going to say exactly this! Get there early and be the guest of honor and greet everyone when they come.

You're still excited and happy about the shower -- that doesn't change if you're surprised by it or not! You're going to have so much fun!

Same here. The invites say 5pm, but FH and I will arrive around 6. My mom suggested this so everyone can make a big deal and scream, clap, etc when we walk in.

I knew about my shower...but it's still a BIG surprise to walk into a room which has been decorated and to see everyone gathered in your honor.

I arrived 20 mins late with my DH, everyone rose and clapped, we took photos and went table to table thanking everyone for coming and saying hello. It was GREAT!

since you do know about it....and you're planning it with your mom....why dont you get there early and help set up and greet people as they come in

i PLANNED my shower.. EVERYONE knew this.

have adolfo walk you in 30 min after eveyr1 gets there.. they will still stand up and cheer for u.

just stand and smile while your BP take pix!

its barely ever a surprise anymore. dont worry!!!!!

mine was supposed to be a surprise but since invites went out at least 3 ppl have ruined it...so i know the date.

i plan to just walk in and pretend to act surprised..so they will know i know

my shower was last saturday and i got to the party early. like an hr before everybody else. i went with my mom, who also threw the party for me, and just greeted guests as they came. it woulda been weird to walk in when it wasnt a surprise...
