my dress is ivory although when i first tried it on i thought it was white; well my FH went to a tuxe place and they told him that if my dress was ivory then he should do an ivory shirt because if he did a white shirt then on pictures my dress would look dirty? is this true? they need a swatch of my dress, which i dont have. help!

yup, it's true. can you call the place you got your dress from and get a swatch? they want it so they can match the ivory to the ivory of your dress...

The tux place I went to on friday night said the exact opposite. My dress is Ivory and they said to go wtith a white shirt because the ivory shirts look dirty. So my advice would be whatever you want!!!

i have a ivory gown and i told fh he need to get a ivory shirt. he went tux shopping over the weekend and they asked him to bring a swatch of my gown and the bm gowns.
btw, when i bought my gown i asked them to order me a swatch just for this reason

I am having FH wear ivory as well. Maybe a vest with a pattern with ivory or white. Not too sure though

I had an ivory gown....when we went to the tux shop they told us they colored two different colored white shirts, one being diamond white and the other more off white. We choose the off-white and it looked fine the day of. - HTH

Same here. The tux place told us that with the ivory tie/vest against a white shirt will compliment my ivory dress, not make the shirts look dingy.

I feel like it depends on how ivory it is. My dress is ivory but it's so very nearly white, that I think either would match. I'm going to ask to see the ivory shirts before I make a decision.

This is exactly what they told me too...the ivory is yellowish!

i'm pretty sure that fh is wearing an ivory vest with an ivory shirt i don't think the ivory will look too yellow bc it's going to be against my gown so it should go nice...i heard that with a white shirt it will make the gown look more yellow...but i don't know, i think ivory or white will look fine

FH is going to love this post. He swore this was the case to me and I told him he was crazy that a white shirt would be fine. However, now i have doubts. Thanks for posting this... I am going to check into this.
