Re: For Jennbaby: Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney trip pics

JennRenee what type of room are you staying in? We stayed in a Savannah room - they upgraded us to our room

It is a great hotel - with amazing service - try to eat at boma - we didn't get to try jiko - if you need any suggestions I can tell you where we ate and what we liked

Before you go check out:
mousesavers
deb willis page - this has menus for ALL the restaurants both sit down and counter service - at the parks AND at the hotels
Disboards - it is a posting board like this - you can get a ton of helpful info on here

Let me know if I can make any suggestions for you -

see if you can make a Priority seating for California grill make it about 1 1/2 hours before the fireworks at MK. Or go there for drinks - You can watch the sunset (the restaurant is on the top of the contemporary hotel) then they dimm the lights and pipe in the music from the MK and they stop serving so everyone can watch the fireworks from the park. It was a different experience!

Re: For Jennbaby: Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney trip pics

From Rob-luvs-me:

Ok not sure how long you will be there - but make sure you take a few minutes and check out the animal kingdom lodge - it is great there - you can see animals all over the hotel (the animals are actually right off of your balcony if you stay there) I have pics from our room somewhere I will post them on the NWR later.

ok if you are looking for a romantic meal - it is pricey though - it cost us about 150$ for the meal - Eat at the California Grill - it is on top of the contemporary hotel - it IS GORGEOUS - zagat gave it a top restaurant in orlando review - it gets a 24 or 25 I think for food - but I could be wrong - but it is great. If you go to deb willis page for EVERYTHING including menus! If you go to this site it has menus from ALL the restauarants (sit down and counter service with prices FOR EVERYTHING) great for planning - the site can also tell you what a disney is closed for rehab and everything -

Ok if you are not staying on property I don't think you can make a reservation at the Contempory - but you should go and eat there anyway - try to make sure you are having drinks if not dinner in time for the fireworks - ok this is how it works - When we ate there - we got a window table with a FABULOUS view of the sunset - THEN when it is time for the fireworks at the magic Kingdom they then turn down the lights - and the restaurant stops serving food - they pipe in the music from the park and you can watch the fireworks - if you can't eat there -then try to go for drinks - just call the contemporary and they should tell you when to go.

Otherwise there are a ton of fun restaurants in Epcot - those are really the best restaurants IN disney - if you want a good restaurant outside of epcot you really need to look at the hotels rather than MK, AK or MGM.

Hmmmm - If you go to epcot - there is a new ride you should try to go on (although with your back don't know if you will be able to do it -also if you get motion sickness you might not want to go) it just had a soft opening and that means it is open from time to time - try to get on Mission Space - it is supposedly a ride that makes you feel that you are taking off in space it sounds interesting -

If you want to ride on test track DO THE SINGLE RIDER line - you may or may not get to ride in the same car as your H BUT - if you are not in the same car you will be in the car right in front or behind him - it will save you SO much time - we rode 3 times in 20 mins vs - 2 hour wait for regular line and the fast passes had a 6 hour return time on them.

Many people do drinks around the world - meaning they hit each pavillion in epcot and have a drink and a snack maybe - that is something to consider

Ok that was epcot. -

MGM - there are really only about 2 major rides with 3 smaller ones
1) tower of terror - it was fun - FH gets motion sickness and this did him in - it is an elevator drop ride with theming to twillight zone and a movie disney did a while back with that name
2) rock n roller coaster if you like upside down rides it was fun - it is not universal studios - wild type of ride - but worth doing

3) backstage tour - is fun - but you might get wet
4) star tours - a motion simulator was fun
5) there is another ride in a building that looks like grumans chinese theather but don't remember what the name of it was - I think it was the great movie ride.- If you can - try to eat at Sci fi dine in - go EARLY or LATE and request a car - the food isn't the best - but the burgers and shakes are good and the whole restaurant looks like a big drive in at night with a huge screen which plays old drive in commercials and clips from movies.

AK - ok do the safari ride - that was great - the water raft ride was good - but expect to either get off completely dry or completely drenched there doesn't seem to be a medium level on it...lol
Dinosaur was great too - but it jerks you around so you might have back problems with it

MK - that doesn't need an explanation - but make sure you two do Buzz Lightyear ranger spin and see who gets a higher score (slow moving cars each person gets a lazer gun and you shoot targets and you compete against the person in your car to see who gets the highest score - one hint don't let go of the trigger and shoot at EVERYTHING even the back of things for the most points. there are targets you don't see

Magic Kingdom has something called E-ride nights - which they charge you something like 15$ a person and you get to stay in the park for an extra 3 hours after closing - they only let a select few in - and they have only the major rides open so you basically get to do the biggies without much of a wait - check and see if they have one while you are there -

Ok check out these sites -

mouse savers This site IS THE BEST she gives you codes for discount rooms - you can get into the value resorts sometimes with codes from her for as little as 59 a night. It also has airfare, car, and ticket deals...

dis boards this is a chat board with TONS of information - you can read hotel, restaurant reviews, as well as ask for any advice and hear about weather, crowds, rehabs - special things etc this board also had some boards on universal area as well

deb willis page again with the menus Check it out - you can pick what restaurants you want before you get there. and budget properly if you want.

We ate at -
Boma,(in the Animal Kingdom Lodge)
California Grill (Contemporary Hotel)

At Epcot:
Coral reef,
San Angel Inn (mexican pavillion)
Rose and Crown (england)
Tappanyaki (Japan)
Marrakesh (if you are adventureous it is morrocan with belly dancers and good food - it was fun)
Le Cellier (canada)
Les Chefs de France (france)

HOLY SCHNIKERS!!!! That's a GREAT list of what to do!! Thank you!!!!

We are staying in a Savannah room too, and I'm completely PSYCHED! I LOVE animals, so this a a dream hotel for me.

We already have dinner reservations for a bunch of nights, and now I'm DEFINITELY making a reservation at the California Grill! I ate there YEARS ago when it was called The Top Of The World (or something to that effect) and I remember the view being outrageous!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
