I usually give cash $200.00-$500.00 per person depending on which one is the most helpful to me for holding packages, doors, groceries etc. I'm sure no matter what you give they will be grateful

At my old building they actually sent a letter to everyone detailing every person who worked in the building - we were expected to tip not just the doorman but the cleaning people, maintenance, etc. I think we gave our doorman about $200 - but it also depends on your rent. And given the economy lately I'm sure they don't expect as much as they used to...

Re: for ladies that live or have lived in building w/a doorman
I used to give my doorman $75 each and same with the building super
All of the porters i would give $25, with the exception of a few that would always help me out I'd give $40.
Although according to my friends i definitely over tipped - but they were always sooo goood to me I didn't care.
ETA - I had 5 doormen, and about 15 porters. They gave me a holiday card with all of the names of the people who worked there.
