? For NRC BRIDES

? For NRC BRIDES

I understand the concept of charity as I donate at my own will frequently ,however i just spoke with my reception hall & asked if the leftover food would be packed away for myself and the groom Their response was only the extra dinners( which may be 1 or 2 ). The cocktail hour food will be donated to charity. They said it is a law they can't give it to us b/c it is double heated. Has anyone heard of such a law? I want my leftover cocktail food that I am paying for! Can anybody help me with this issue? Has anyone from NRC mentioned this to you?

Hi~ I went through some drama with my reception hall because of this issue. Cocktail Hour food is presented buffet style which means many people are susceptible to touching/breathing on the food. As a health concern, it is advised that cocktail hour food is not packaged. Maybe, they can package some food before everyone gets to it.

When it comes to dinner (assuming it's not buffet style), you can request that your dinner be packaged. However, you are responsible once you take your food home for any illnesses (so I have been told).

I contacted the Nassau Board of Health and the State's Helath Department when I got married. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your response. I was a little concerned when I was told the food could not be packaged for me , if it is a safety issue why is it okay to be packaged & donated to a charity?

I was thinking the same thing, give charity something that could possibly not be safe to eat??? Hmmm......

I don't know about that. That's interesting. Did you happen to ask about VH food? I wanted my guests to be able to have 'to go' boxes available to them for the VH b/c usually everyone is so stuffed. I wonder if they will say no to that too? Hmmm....

As far as the VH, I was told that those items can be packaged. Those desserts do not have to be reheated or cause major health concerns. I would still check with the RH to see if they okay that. It's a good idea!

What's true? That you can donate the cooked food or not? I thought they couldnt donate food that's already been cooked and would have to be cooked again.
