For People who saved their first layer of their Wedding Cake

How did it taste?
Being that it was a year old?

And people that went away for their 1 year Anniversary.
Did you eat it before the Anniversary or did you wait until you got home to eat it?

We had ours. We realized that it was not that great to begin with but it was edible. I didnt go nuts on our wedding cake. I wanted it to look pretty but the taste wasn't as important to me.

Actually our wedding cake was pretty yummy even though it was 1 year old!!! I did order a replica cake though just in case.

Not sure if this makes a difference but we didn't save the entire top of the cake. We ate some of it prior to leaving on our honeymoon & only saved 2 slices in rubbermaid containers.

It wasn't that bad but it wasn't what I remembered from the wedding! We were away for our anniversary and by the time we got around to having the cake, it was almost 2 weeks later. We didn't get a replica made or anything like that. DH only eats sweets when he needs to treat low blood sugar, so he would not have enjoyed the cake. He would have much preferred that we re-create the cocktail hour for our anniversary. Oh yea, of course we did that because we are the best couple ever.
