FOR the 09' Girls Who HAVE NOT Booked Their Hall Yet

Hey 09' Chicas,

For those of you who are still hall hunting, what are your top three choices and why? If you already booked your hall, why did you book it and what would have been your second and third choices if the hall you booked was not available?

CLM
WM
JT

I like WM the best because is has that no catering feeling.

CLM - The food is awesome!! But, it's a loooooooooong drive and I don't want my guest to have to travel that far

JT- I liked the room they offered and also the CH Rm. But, they really don't have any spacious grounds for photo op.

Westbury Manor - Good location for us, Nassau county. They treated us like royalty even just to take a look around. Has a 50 person minimum for the Hill room upstairs. Has a beautiful outdoor ceremony garden and the cocktail hour and reception room were very nice as well. The gardens are big and beautiful, plenty of places to take all of our photos. It also has a spanish station option for the cocktail hour which would be good because my fiance and his family are puerto rican.

Larkfield Manor - Has everything we want, outdoor cocktail hour, nice outdoor ceremony site, beautiful cocktail hour room and area, beautiful reception room, and enough garden areas to do all our pics. Also the staff seems very warm and welcoming. They gave us a great price. We will also get the most bang for our buck here with all the nice extras that we were offered. We won't even neen to worry about centerpieces because I'll be using the candlabras that are shown in ny pics and just scatter some rose petals and maybe place a couple votives around. Big negative for us is that it is far. We live in Queens and a lot of our guests will be coming from the Bronx. If it wasn't so far we probably would have booked here already.

I'll come back with a third but these so far are our top two contenders.

Can I tell you the top 5? FH and I decided to each choose 5 so that we can visit 9 or 10 before the year is over.

My Top 5:
Chateau La Mer
Hyatt Wind Watch
North Ritz Club
Westbury Manor
Vanderbilt Mansion/ Bourne Mansion

FH's Top 5:
Crescent Beach Club
Chateau La Mer
Leonard's of Greatneck
Garden City Hotel
Gurney's Inn (might be too far)

We chose these for a combination of reasons.

I have a 5 day break so I'm coming home on Monday!!! I usually don't go home for Fall break but I decided to make an appointment with the North Ritz Club, Vanderbilt Mansion and CLM to take a look with Mom and Dad until FH returns

Crescent was nice, it reminded me of the beach in Miami, which is where I would have gone to get married if money were no object (LOEWS Hotel South Beach Miami) and FI was not set on having all of his family there. The views are nice and girl let me tell you the outdoor ceremonies are really right on the beach. They have a platform over the sand and the water is your backdrop! That was my favorite thing about Crescent!!! The ballroom and the cocktail room were both nice. The only thing that took Crescent out of the running for me was the price for a Saturday night $$$$$$

VYC was nice, the ceremony area was a little small but it had a nice water view and the downstairs ballroom was my favorite , very romantic. The sales person we had and the staff that were there were very friendly to me andmy BM and explained everything thoroughly and even gave me a written proposal. No tastings though until you sign a contract

JT, JMO mind you, was my least favorite of all three places. Not many photo ops and my BM who went with me and I felt like the man who was giving us the tour was not very sociable. He did not explain anything to us. He just gave us the tour, and a fancy menu book and gave us the prices, which were rather high to me considering the location. It was more than CLM, VYC and the Swan Club

Wow!

Thanks for all the info! Wow was my reaction to JT... I'm gonna check them out on Sat so I'll let you all know what I think.

Crescent sounds beautiful! I can't wait to go with FH to check it out.

VYC.. Do they do outdoor ceremonies? Do they only hold cermonies in that one small room?

Thanks again!

The whole is just great!! I keep in contact with my BM all the time- shes great!!!!

Thanks Karen!

We should be having about 200. Is the outdoor area too small for that?

I'll check it out anyway.

Re: FOR the 09' Girls Who HAVE NOT Booked Their Hall Yet

Hey Jayla, Have you booked your hall yet???

Other Halls that we're still considering are

Leonards's
Gave us the cheapest price and the Empire room is beautiful. I'm not sure if it will seem to big with only 50-60 people in it. I love the indoor chapel. The outdoor ceremony area was okay but if I do choose this place I will use the indoor chapel. The problem with Leonard's for us was that there aren't any gardens on the the grounds. We'd have to find somewhere else to go that morning to take our pics.

Milleridge Inn Carriage House
Again another cheaper alternative for us. The room was nice. They would have a tent set up outside in front of the building and that's where they would set up our outdoor ceremony and CH. I don't like that there are tent poles running down the middle of the tent and my walk down the aisle would be pushed to one side. Also no other option in case of incliment weather. Then everything would be done in the carriage house. Also there didn't seem to be any nice places to take pics. We would have to find somewhere else to go.

It's not on my top 5 list but... I'd still love to hear what you thought of it!

You're so lucky! I haven't been to a wedding since I was about 9!
