Costco has Jackson & Perkins rose shrubs/bushes/hybrid teas for $10.79! They're usually $15.99 and up at nurseries and in their catalog! They also have tree roses!
Here's what I picked up: English Roses - Evelyn and Glamis Castle
Floribunda - Honey Bouquet
I can't wait to plant them! Is it Spring yet?

Boy, I wish I could garden! Living in an apartment doesn't give you the opportunity!

Re: for the girls who are into gardening...
I am hoping we are in our new house by spring i would LOVE to plant rose bushes in my yard...I tried last year here at my apt. in the yard, i thought i did everything right, they got all green and bushy but no roses ever bloomed.

Re: for the girls who are into gardening...
Kate, beats the hell outta me! I don't know if they can withstand the cold in the garage. (They may do just fine b/c they're still dormant. If it was just 10 degrees warmer, I wouldn't even hesitate about putting them in the garage. That's what I did last year.) Right now I have them in the basement. I would imagine they should be fine there if Costco has no problems keeping them in their facility for some time.
I'm going to send Jackson & Perkins an email to get their recommendation. We'll see!

Re: for the girls who are into gardening...
Suzanne, What were they like when you purchased them? Did they have any blooms? It just might have been too hot. They'll probably bloom this year! Just don't give up!!! All of my hybrid teas & floribundas did beautifully, but I had two shrubs that were a pain in the arse with blackspot. I had them in containers on the porch and moved them by the fence, but something tells me that transplant didn't take. Oh well, at least I have new roses to take their place.

Re: for the girls who are into gardening...
These are from my 'garden' (I use that word loosely.)
Costco is carrying this hybrid tea, Love & Peace:
and
this Floribunda called Tournament of Roses:
The blooms were huge! Bigger than my fist!

Re: for the girls who are into gardening...
Suzanne, Well if you had greenery, they weren't dead. Sometimes when it's too hot they don't bloom and last summer was a scorcher. Did you give them Miracle Grow or any other type of rose/plant food? That usually helps with the growth. Did you buy any soil or compost? I never planted mine directly into the original soil. I added soil made specifically for roses.
You can definitely try and move them! Just get a bucket or container for each bush and place them in there. You can either move them with soil or bare root. Just go easy with them, that's all. How far are you traveling? Locally on Long Island?

Re: for the girls who are into gardening...
Anna, great idea! I have nothing to offer, but would love any tips and suggestions anyone can throw out there!
I'd love to start a vegetable garden too, but haven't a clue where to start and afraid I may not have enough time to tend to it.
