For the gym nuts.......

For the gym nuts.......

I recently started stepping up my gym routine and I went 3 days ago but am STILL soooo sore!!!!!!!!!!! If I continue to work out like that, will I always be so sore afterwards? Because I hear that you're always supposed to increase the weights and push yourself, etc.... I'm getting scared!

No it takes time to get used to. When you're soar its a good thing- it means that your muscles are strengthening. It's as if your weak muscles are tearing and the stronger ones grow in. Thats why it hurts now... ease into it gradually. Start out once or twice a week, then 3 times, then 4... alternate circuit one day and cardio the next.

Also I find that the 3rd day is ALWAYS the worst.

Definately give your muscles a day to recover, even if you go to the gym the next day work out different muscles, like one day do your arms and the next do legs...ect. No pain no gain...lol.

honestly after a while your body gets used to it, and you will not feel sore..and yes you are supposed to increase weights and push yourself..your body will get used to what your doing! i have to step up my workout and change it frequently and I get sore some of the time!

Re: For the gym nuts.......

i used to do things with free weights and i would never be sore... then FH taught me a different exercise that is supposed to target armpit flab (lol) and I was soooooo sore for 2 days I could barely move my arms. Guess my body adjusted to the things I had been doing before.

I took a pilates class yesterday and I was dying during a few exercises. I am sooo sore today, and even last night I could barely cross my legs.

Guess it's working

Just dont push yourself too hard too fast

your body will get used to it, make sure you do a cool down after and strech your muscles even AFTER you work out, that will help alot

Thanks for the tips.... Not only am I still sore from the gym but I shoveled snow yesterday for the first time so I'm sore from that too! I know, I probably sound pathetic that the slightest bit of physical activity makes me sore!!!!

my attempt at a description is:

l layed back on an exercise ball so i was resting on my back/shoulders with my feet flat on the floor, and then i took light weights and put them together above me and then to the sides and down and then back.

stretching is really important and eventually you never get sore and that is even more annoying than being sore in the beginning
