My curls look the best when I let them dry naturally! If I have to blow dry, I use a diffuser also. One thing that works great is Lubriderm lotion. Don't laugh! Put it on when your hair is wet, it acts like a moisturizer plus a little bit of hold without getting greasy or sticky. I also swear by 'Secret Weapon' by Frizz Ease. Put it on once your hair is dry, it's wonderful!

i have the CURLIEST hair of anyone i know. When it's curly, it's up to my ears. When it's straight it's down to my back. That shows you the amount of spring I have in it, LOL!!!!!

I have used every thing from avocado, to John Freida, to TOP OF THE LINE hair products. Mucho $$$$, but honestly, what has worked the best for me to make it look shiny and smooth is Pantene Pro V products. Go figure

My hair looks best when I've fussed with it the least. I always let it air dry. I have very recently learned the secret trick (for my hair) is to wash my hair at night and go to bed with my hair wet. When I wait up in the morning, it has that cute tousled thing going, plus it's totally not frizzy.

I also swear by Secret Weapon.

Re: For the ladies with curly hair...

The diffuser never really worked to my satisfaction, so I don't use one ... and I can not just air dry my air .. because my hair then has no life to it .. just flat, no shine, no lively curls.

I use one of those dryers that is supposed to speed up the drying process and add volume .. and that has an attachment on the nozzle, which I sometimes remove. One thing, when useing a dryer, I have to be careful not to run anything through my hair. Once I've combed through it once, I've found the best way to avoid frizz is to not pull anything through my hair .. this keeps the curls defined and reduces frizz .. the frizz happens when strands of hair get seperated from their curl.

Some of the key things I've noticed with my hair .. I can never stick with the same shampoo for any length of time. I basically can not get through an entire bottle. And at least once a week or so, I need to take a day where I switch off to a different shampoo.

Depending on the time of year, I need to adjust my choices in conditioners, but again, like with shampoos, I can not stick with the same conditioner for any length of time, and need to take one day a week where I use something different. These change-ups in the shampoos and conditioners help to keep my hair springy .. otherwise, it does get drab and flat.

Out of the shower, I gentle squeeze the water out of my hair with a towel, then run a wide-toothed comb through, then give my hair a good shake .. to help lift the hair at the roots.

I then use a leave-in conditioning type treatment .. but I never spray it on .. I spray it into my hand, rub my hands together, then apply it by running my hands from root to tip. I then use a curling gel, using the same application process as the treatment.

When I dry my hair, I bend over so my hair flips forward and hangs toward the floor. Using a towel, I scrunch in sections and aim the dryer at the section I'm working on. This, for me, really helps to enhance the curl.

To help set the curl when I've dryed my hair, I use hairspray .. usually two different kinds .. the spray for all-around to help set the curls, and a pump for specific areas that may need a little extra lift.

Right now, my usual daily routine includes:

ABBA Volume Shampoo
ABBA ReCoup Conditioner
Frizz Ease Dream Curls
Physique Curl Creating Gel
Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear
Studio Mighty Mist

I use Spin Control by Redken and the L'oreal Studio Fix line. I try to let my hair air dry and I use a diffuser when I have to blow dry.

Suave spray gel rocks. I spray my hair, dry a little, spray a little more and scrunch, then wait a little longer and dry it the rest of the way. Its this long process that it intertwined with brushing teeth and applying make-up!! I have very heavy curls and without the spray gel, I look like I have hat head Its not as curly on top as on the bottom.

I like using the products from Maximus. I usually will gel/mouse it and defuse it. Thats when my curls look the best.

I too airdry, I find it works the best. I like Biolage Firm Control Gel. I find if I blow dry that my hair gets frizzy and loses it curl.

This is a good post, I picked up a few new tricks.
