For the married ladies--best man speeches

Did your BM embarrass you, give an amazing speech, or a not-so-great one? Our BM is hilarious and an amazing public speaker, and I know he has been planning his speech for months. And even though he's FH's BFF, we're actually very good friends too--we went to HS together, so we've known each other for years. And he's marrying one of my MOH, so it really works out nicely

ANYWAY, I'd love to hear about the speeches! I'm so excited for our BM speech haha..and our MOH ones too...I have hilarious friends and I know they'll embarrass me, but I don't even care

Both speeches were good! My MOH and the BM made very short, sweet speeches

They stayed totally appropriate! If there is one thing I hate, it is drawn out speeches!

DH's brother was the BM and his speech was really touching and heartfelt. He talked about how much he loved his brother and how much he loved me as a sister etc. He cried and had everyone crying too

definately one of the most memorable parts of the night

My sister refence my father's 'nuggets of wisdom'

The one she chose was one of our favorite quotes from an email that my dad sent me when I was in undgrad

It said, 'Your specialty is unwise decisions.' and then she went from there about how this was a wise decision. It was cute!

Re: For the married ladies--best man speeches

my sisters speeches were amazing. i was in tears and so were some of my friends who told me afterwards. the best man's speech was absolutely HORRIBLE and he put NO thought into it just like the other 2 speeches that he gave as best man for the other weddings.

he mentioned my parents for the wedding (DH and i paid for the wedding), it was like less than 30 seconds and he passed the mic so quickly to DH, he didn't even say cheers. Everybody was kinda just staring at each other. HORRIBLE! MIL was like, Lee deserved a better speech than that and the best man was rude for not even putting in any effort into it. But we don't let him live this down. We bring it up to his face whenever we can. Hopiing that he would change for future speeches...but he still hasn't. i say just don't have his a best man ever again for future friends of his

Re: For the married ladies--best man speeches

Our BM did an AMAZING speech. People keep talking about it. It definitely was more 'funny' but he did get sentimental, saying he felt really lucky to be the best man to two of his best friends, how John is like a brother to him, and I am like his little sister.

Our friends were cracking up because he told a story about how at my Sweet 16, my father caught John drinking in the parking lot (true story) and how my father had a reputation in our high school for being a 'scary dad,' but that the lesson learned that night was 'To impress Mr. Lewis, we learned that night you must partake in underage drinking at one of his family functions, in order to date one of his daughters' . He also talked about how John's college roommate remarked that whenever John was feeling down, you knew you could find him chatting on his computer to 'Hve2dance'. For some reason, that joke really got everyone going.

My MOH/sister gave a heartfelt touching speech, not a dry eye in the house!

The BM not so much, it was clearly thrown together with no thought. I bet he wished he went first bc my sisters speech no one could have topped that!

Re: For the married ladies--best man speeches

The BM at our wedding is deathly afraid of public speaking so his speech was short and sweet, but his FW was afraid that he was just going to toss the microphone at the end of the speech so she made sure to write in big letters at the end of the speech 'DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES THROW OR DROP THE MICROPHONE'

He put the speech into the card box so that we can have it and when we saw that we were laughing so hard!!
