We booked our HM w/a travel agency requesting an ocean view room ground leavel I was told she can not tell us the room yet but will put in the request..they do not assign rooms untill you get there???So once you land and meet up w/the sandals rep keep telling them that you 'requested' a room on the water DOes this sound right???

Re: for the Sandals HM
I was this same thing by Sandals specialists. I thought it was weird too, but I've gone to two TA's and they've said the same thing to me. I've never asked why though.

Re: for the Sandals HM
We just got back from the Grande in St. Lucia and what your TA said was true for us also. They only guaranty a room in your category. When you arrive, if you do not like the location, ask to be switched. That is what we did, it was no problem. We wanted a room on a higher level, they had given us one on the bottom floor.

Re: for the Sandals HM
I just got back from sandals and it seemed that most rooms had similar views and sizes. I wouldn't worry about it. if you don't like it you can always request to change rooms once you get there.

I was told that the room category we chose were all on the top floors. No room assignment yet, but guaranteed on the top floors.

Re: for the Sandals HM
I booked a Sandals HM and my TA told me where I would be, I picked a certain room category and it tells you the views. I requested a high level, thats the only thing she could not guarentee but Leslie said she confrims and reconfirms. You should double check with your TA

I was going to let FH take care of the HM, but I think it may be better if I put my 2 cents in (I think he's budgetting way too much for that

Re: for the Sandals HM
You just have to realize that with Sandals - you get absolutely everything you need (food, drinks, room, hotel/airport transfers, gratuity, etc. All you have to pay outside the cost is airfare and any touristry stuff you do!!

Mind you - prices change for the year and the month you travel. I'm going in March '07 (high rate month) to the Sandals resort in Bahamas, all inclusive, for under $5000 total for both of us (FM me for exact quote) for Sat-Fri. (6 nights, 7 days). FH and I want a weekend to recuperate before heading back to work.

Just be aware of traveling to the Caribbean during hurricane season that ends in November. I know Aruba is out of the hurricane belt!

Oh I thought Sept. was peak... (Since alot of people we know go away for ) hmmn
do you think that we'd be better to go to Tahiti or Mexico then? I'm not going to Aruba, b/c of what happened to that poor girl well the fact that the authorities didn't do anything about it

Same here - one of the reasons why FH and I didn't even want to look there. A few co-workers and faculty I work with took their children with them this past fall to Aruba and they said it wasn't the same, so I've decided to avoid it.
Well, you could always do the US Virgin Islands (I believe those are the ones off the coast of S. Carolina) or Mexico. I know many of the LIW brides talk about the resorts there! FH and I postponed our HM until March, so we could enjoy the Caribbean, but we're also going away to Rhode Island for a few days after the wedding.
