For the zillionth time... the service charge does/does not include wait staff tips?
The 20% service charge on my contract... does this cover the waitstaff or do I have to tip them too? the bar staff?

I'm not sure about bartenders but it does cover waitstaff. Your maitre d is in addition to that though.

It covers your staff's pay, not a tip. I used to waitress at two long island catering halls, as did my sister. I know from real experience that it covers pay only. And not every catering hall pays well... Just keep that in mind.
Also, from my experience, the bartenders were paid the same amount as the waitstaff yet were automatically tipped by the guests at the party. Some bartenders would share their tips with the staff, others don't.
Personally, I plan on tipping everyone at the catering hall. I would rather tip than assume the service charge covers the extra they deserve for their hard work.

That's the waitstaffs pay or some halls pay them and then that's their tip it also includes the bar tenders. You do not have to give them any other tips.
I told my rh that if that covers the bar tenders tip then I dont want them putting a tip cup on the bar blatently asking for more money. If my guest wants to tip them that's fine but since i did then they should not.

MY WAITSTAFF is included as well as the valet (guests can tip if they want) Half of my Maitre D's tip is also included, then we are to give them $1 extra for each person at the wedding. We also have to tip the bridal attendent...

I was told that the service charge includes the wait staff but not the maitre'd or the bridal asst. Which is fine. The wait staff better not expect more tips. I do feel bad for servers, I know they work hard for not that much money, but 20% of our bill is a LOT of money to us, and we can't afford more tips on top of that. If the RH is ripping them off by not giving them the service charge as they deserve, that's not our problem.

You still need to tip the wait staff and bar tender. My hall manager said if I needed she will give me an idea of how much it will be when I go sit down with her this weekend. Maybe your hall can do the same when you sit down to plan the menu.

my 18% gratuity covered ALL of the waitstaff, the bartender, the coat checker, and the valet parking people....
the only additional tip we had was the maitre 'd and that was explicity explained in the contract.
