I am confused...what order do things go in? I have a template that has marriage vows before the exchange of rings..but my ceremony is the other way around. Actually, I have exchanging of rings, blessing of hands, then wedding vows. What is the correct order? Or is it different for everyone?
Also, how do you indicate on the program that someone is doing a reading? What are you guys doing about that? And one last thing ... any suggestions on how to word the lighting of candles for family members that have passed away? Thank you ladies! I appreciate your input!

Re: for those doing programs...
Joy,
I am finishing up my programs now. Only 1 more week for you and two for me - I'm praying for beautiful weather. Maybe we can do our get-together after we both are back honeymooning!
Our ceremony it's the exchange of vows and then the exchange of rings - I believe that's the order it goes in - well atleast for our ceremony. Here is my order:
Prelude Processional Entrance of Bride
Rite of Ceremony Exchange of Vows Exchange of Rings
Presentation of Roses (in lieu of unity candle) Interlude Song
Final Blessing Presentation of Bride and Groom (our names)
Reading - 'First Name, Last Name' Release of Doves
Recessional
I only have two readings - Fr. Jim will do the first and my MOH will read the meaning of the dove release before we let them go. I've seen that you can put the title of reading (ie ... Corinthians 1) or just put reading .... some people write out the whole reading which is really nice too. I did smaller programs so I didn;t do it that way!
I hope I helped! Good Luck and I'm sure we'll talk before your big day!

Re: for those doing programs...
Everyone's ceremnoy can be different so I would do the program in the order of your service.
We have a page that lists everyone involved with the ceremony and family and we are including the people that do the readings here. We are also including the readings in the programs. SO where we put the name of the reading we put a little tag line that says Read by Aunt Barbara.
I am not sure how we are mentioning the loved ones that have passed.

blessing of the hands
It's just a quick little prayer like blessing, similar to a blessing of rings done by a minister in a church, except the reverend takes our hands and blesses them!!

Re: blessing of the hands
i remember reading it, and it had a lot to do with having kids and holding them someday, etc. i would feel funny bc of of my bm can't have children and this kills her, and I've never tried, so who knows...but it is a nice blessing
