About how long do you think it will take? We'll be having a mass and my mom thinks it's too much time between the ceremony and cocktail hour. I disagree since I think it'll be about an hour and a half by the time we leave the church. The church starts at 2:30 and the cocktail hour at 6. The church is in Centereach and the reception in Patchogue.
TIA

Re: For those getting married in a church
My dad and I agree that it's enough time (maybe too little ) but my mom's so stubborn!! My dad did photography for weddings so I know he would know. I guess she feels like she would have to entertain guests. We're not doing pics before so they'd be with us.
I'm happy I still have 2 years cause if I didn't I think I'd elope!

Re: For those getting married in a church
That sounds fine... some reception halls even let people into a lounge/bar before the cocktail hour. Otherwise, they will figure something out to do in between and you'll have more than enough time for pictures.
I've been to weddings that have left a much bigger time gap in between. You should do whatever works best for you. And I think you're right about the hour and 1/2... by the time the recieving line is done, etc... good luck!

Re: For those getting married in a church
My mass is at 3:15pm and the cocktail hour (if we choose the hall we want) starts at 7pm. There will be more than 2 hours in between but an hour of that will be travel time. I think it's expected. But also, most of the time you don't have a choice.

Re: For those getting married in a church
The ceremony w/ mass will be from an hour to an hour & 15 minutes long. So I figure it would be over at around 4:00 pm.
The gap in between should be enough for you to take pictures with your guests at the church or to go to a garden or something.

I guess maybe I caught her on an off night. She's been picking and changing her mind each day! It's crazy. I'll try her again later.
Thanks!

Re: For those getting married in a church
Our church will be at 2:30 and the CH is at 7pm. We're going to use that time in-between for pictures since we don't want to see each other until the church.

I'm just not sure how to convince her that we'll have enough time in between.

My church is at 3 PM and the cocktail hour starts at 6 PM. You should take the time inbetween to take as many pictures as you can so you can enjoy the reception.
