We're either doing the hotel bar or having a party in a conference room....

are they all booked or will they just not let you block rooms? We're having that problem, but there are rooms available....we just can't block them...so we're spreading the word on which hotel we're using and people are paying standard rate for the rooms

I think FH and I were just going to have a little get together at a friends house, something low key..

FH's godmother is throwing us an after-party in her backyard! It's the 4th of July so we have to have a BBQ!!!

That sounds like so much fun!

We kind of want our after-party to be an 'our friends' get together. I know that if we have it at the hotel some relatives might show up! Maybe we'll be doing shots with grandma!

we booked a conference room type thing in a hotel that didn't have a bar - this way, they let us bring in whatever we wanted (places with a bar would make us buy the food and alcohol from them). about 100 people came (of our 200 guests) - it wound up working out great!

we tried the wingate (la quinta) in garden city, and the marriot in uniondale. i called garden city hotel and they have 30 rooms left but they are $290 which is way too much. what other hotels have bars in them?

I had a 2PM - 7PM wedding and had an after party in the lounge of our hotel (where our wedding was). My DH friend's sis when she had her wedding booked a conference room in the hotel where all her guests were staying. How about a restaurant or the only other thing would be at a house as the other posters had.

We're in the same exact boat. We're getting married at Fox Hollow in Woodbury on July 5th, and we have no idea where to go afterwards. FH & I would really like to find a really cool karaoke bar, and sing it up. The only place we found (no karaoke :( is called 'The Inn Between' it's a divey bar, but sometime's those are the best.

I'd also love some ideas too!

If I had the bowiling scenario as a guest, it would be, by far, the most fun thing I could think of doing after an early wedding reception...just my opinion though

FH and I have booked a limo bus with royalty limo and we are taking 48 of our closest friends and family into Manhattan where we will continue to take photos with our photographer. We are then going to come back to LI and end our night at Mirage in Westbury............this is going to be my favorite part, I can't wait!!!!!

Sooo....I finally got some good news!!! The Marriott in Melville had plenty of rooms left!!! They have a really cute bar and they serve breakfast in the morning! I got the rooms for $155 which is amazing for a Marriott! I am SO relieved that its going to work out. I feel so much better!
