For those having hand ceremony

What part of the mass is it done in during a Roman Catholic ceremony - does it take the place of regular vows or is it done before/after. I love the way it reads, but am clueless as to when it is done??

The deacon told me its done right after the blessing of the rings, and before the unity candle. (if your doing that too)

I'm not having a Catholic ceremony, but my hand ceremony I believe comes after the vows/rings. But some ministers/priests can combine all three.

we're doing this in lieu of the unity candle, so whenever that takes place? I should probably know when that is but I don't
