did your guests have issues with it? I am thinking about it to save money but I know my family and friends might give me a warm time

Re: for those having or had Thursday weddings
My best friend had her weddig on Thursday and I was th maid of honor.
Was it a little difficult because it was in the middle of the week? Yes.
Did I care? no.
Look, you have to do whats best for YOU. If it means you can save $1000 dollars and put that money toward a dress, gflowers, favors DO IT.
If they dont like it too bad! The only thing to realize is that people wont saty late so they can go to work the next day. I think that was the only thing that was a little dissapointing to the bride. But it was lovely and they were able to have a wedding THEY wanted because it was not so expensive.
Hope this helps.

Re: for those having or had Thursday weddings
I am not having a thursday night wedding but have been a guest at 2 of them. I was not happy about the weddings being on a thursday night - especially because I was working in NYC and both weddings were out on LI. It involved taking a day off on Thursday to go and a day off on Friday because there was no way I would be able to get on my 6:45 train after being at a wedding the night before.
However, the bottom line is that I went because I cared about the people getting married. Yes, it was inconvenient and I did grumble a bit, but in the end, I went to see my friends get married and that's what it's all about. So, honestly, if people are upset or complain, don't let it get to you. The people that love you will be there.

Re: for those having or had Thursday weddings
im having a thursday wedding and all of our freinds and family said they wouldnt care which day we get married they wouldnt miss it for the world.
i personally have taken off days for friend's (who are not so close) weddings but my job gives me that flexibility. you might think about your circle of family and friends, to see if the majority of them can be flexible in their jobs to take a vacation day.
we considered that, and only 1 of our guests might have a problem with taking a vacation day. thats pretty good, out of 120 guests.

Maybe you can have your wedding on a Thursday that is part of a long weekend so mostly everyone will have off from work or they can get out of work early?

Re: for those having or had Thursday weddings
I recently attended a wedding on a Thursday, and although at first I thought it would've been difficult taking off work, it wasn't at all, and in all actuality, its the same as having it on a Sunday night, if you think about it, IMO

ITA! also you can look at other days/times to save costs besides a thursday, like a saturday day or sunday wedding as well.

Re: for those having or had Thursday weddings
I had a Thursday wedding (the next day everyone was off). I didn't have any No's b/c of the day of the week (it was for other reasons). Our ceremony didn't start until 7pm so ppl didnt have to miss an entire day of work.
Whoever wants to be there, will be there no matter what!

Re: for those having or had Thursday weddings
i am doing a thursday wedding any saving ALOTTTTTTTT of money.... due to the PPH and the minimum for the weekends was much higher than the thursday.
we talked to the most important people in our lives, to make sure they would be able to make it. once they all said YES, we booked it :) we also saved on other vendors because of the thursday.
my uncle had a BIG wedding on a thursday, and only 1 person RSVP'ed NO!!!

Re: for those having or had Thursday weddings
I am having a Thursday wedding. It's in the summer when most people take off anyways.
If its an inconveinence for anyone...oh well...they don't have to come!
As long as I, FH and our families are there...that is all that matters to me!

Re: for those having or had Thursday weddings
We our having our wedding on a sunday night and as one bride to be state it's the same thing as a thurs night wedding. I honestly did get some grief from family in the being when we were looking to pick dates and i was a little disappointed because it is a one time event and our main reason for a sunday was to save money, since we are paying for everything, and a 1000 is like 5000 to us, lol, you get my point. However family now does seem like they will be taking off. I would go to someone's when no matter when it is, but again its just me, dont worry, go for it!!!

Re: for those having or had Thursday weddings
I originally had a thursday night wedding. I cracked under the pressure and changed it to a friday. I've been to a thursday wedding and she invited 406 people, only 30 rsvp'd no. My uncle told me if you get married on a tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock he would be there. Do whatever is good for you and your budget, you cant please everybody. I still have people complaining about the friday night b/c its labor day weekend

I was originally looking to have ours in November or March becasue I thought it would be cheaper & really I was just settling because of financial reasons I actually didn't want those months at all...I had mentioned Thursday but thought I was weird! Haha..But FH said the same thing about the Sunday night weddings! We always have to be at work at 9 & we go! So I decided on Thursday actually because my office is closed on Friday's already & they are all like family. Ive worked there 10 years & my mom 30. FH's fam is from FLorida so they will be here anyway & I have a small family as well so it will be fine. Everyone has already told me no matter what day of the week they will be there :) & boy are we saving money & I get to have my dream June wedding after all!!! :)

Re: for those having or had Thursday weddings
Do whats best for YOU and your FH. The people that really want to come to your wedding will make every effort to be there whether its a Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sun or what ever day it may be. You will get people who will complain - so what. Its YOUR day! :)

Re: for those having or had Thursday weddings
my wedding was on Thursday and everyone we wanted made. It may have been difficult for some but we sent Save the Dates well and advance and we so overjoyed with our guest for being with us that day. I was stuck on the significance of my date so I just went with the idea of having a Thursday wedding.

I remember your wedding. You looked like a celebrity. So gorgeous. I didn't know it was a thursday. nice
