For those having the ceremony at the RH...

For those having the ceremony at the RH...

What are you doing about your rehearsal dinner? Are you actually planning on having a rehearsal or just doing a thank you dinner? Are you going to wing it the day of?

The rehearsal dinner has been schedule the Sunday before the wedding at 12pm. And I'm clueless about what to do about the actual rehearsing part. I've spoken to our pastor (although not recently) about this and she said that we could totally do it right before the ceremony - but I'm not sure if that's feasible since I want the family photos during that time-slot.

Thoughts?

I ran into this exact issue! We ended up having to ask a million times for our RH (Milleridge Cottage) to hold a rehearsal for us! They were adamant that we could just do it 10 mins before our actual wedding, which is totally unacceptable to us. We will be having a run through with our maitre'd the night before, around 6:30 then having a dinner after at a local restaurant. My officiant doesn't do the rehearsals, it's more about having the maitre'd tell everyone about specifics regarding walking down the aisle, where to line up, deciding who goes when, at what point in the songs will we start walking, etc. We are having a first look that isn't at the RH, so this works best for us. The idea of practicing our ceremony while I'm all done up and about to do it for real, just felt in totally poor taste, IMO.

I never even thought about the maitre'd; you're so right the rehearsal would be more about him than the officiant! I guess I'll be asking our BM about this soon so I can start working on the rehearsal dinner invite!

Thanks so much!!

You're welcome!! FWIW, our RH was all like 'Ohhh, we don't have an event that night-your maitre'd wouldn't be there..' and I put my foot down. You're paying them tens of thousands of dollars-they need to do what you want them to (within reason)! Good luck :)

Our rehearsal dinner is just a thank you dinner. We are meeting with our officiant about a half hour before for our rehearsal with him. I've also been in a wedding where the rehearsal was 15 min before the start, all went smooth...it's basically the maitre'd telling the wedding party where to stand.

I just had this conversation with my family yesterday lol..We are undecided what we are doing. I'd like to do it 2 days before the wedding at my RH so we know what we are doing. I think it would give me stress to figure it out right before the ceremomy

I booked for the thursday before the wedding to meet with the maitre'd and do a rehearsal. I haven't booked the dinner yet, lol. I should probably get on that.

We are having a RH but in Westchester and we are getting married in Long Island. I thought it was going to be just the bridal party (and their significant others), parents and officiant which is a friend and myself and FH would pay. Just a thank you from us to them and I hear now FMIL wants to invite practically everyone and I just don't get it. Aren't you suppose to have your RH dinner at where you will be getting married? I have to speak with my FSIL about this.

This is exactly what is on my mind! I want to be as stress-free as possible when walking down the isle! I'm afraid that it just won't flow right. If we could do it 2 days before the wedding that would have been cool, except that my youngest sister is up in MA and she couldn't come home that early due to school and stuff. Decisions decisions!!

And yey for date twins - almost 3 months for us

We are doing it at my local church the day before. It may not be at our venue but at least we will get the order down

To do an actual rehearsal at the venue ... its $50. Honestly... if my girls can't walk down a straight line... we have bigger issues. We ARE going to be doing a dinner of some sort since that's the only thing my future in laws are offering to pay for.

I figured between my DOC and my BM... they can rehearse while FH and I are taking our photos. I know what I'm doing lol..

We aren't having a rehearsal dinner. It's going to be whomever is around the night before and wants to grab dinner can do so (as of now) or might just try to set up a catered dinner at the hotel the night before. (It's not really part of Jewish tradition to do a RH dinner). Since we are doing pictures before hand, I just plan on doing a quick, walk down, girls to the right guys to the left type of thing.

this! Im pretty confident in the catering hall's MD (Im not the first wedding they ever done ) Besides anything more than a day before the wedding the officiant said that people forget anyway...

I'm not having a rehearsal dinner either. we are gonna be at the hotel from the day before and just plan to hang out with everything there and whoever wants to come

I just contacted my venue about this... We can have our rehearsal a day or two before, but would have to pay the maitre'd $50 for her time (Not too ridiculous but I didn't expect the fee). If my officiant will it do at no charge we will probably do it with her instead. Our ceremony will be pretty short & straight forward but I would like to do one anyway just to help calm my nerves. Plus I have a couple of people in my wedding party that have never been in a wedding before.

We're not doing a rehearsal, but we are having a 'rehearsal dinner' more so as a thank you for our out of town guests, bridal party/significant others, and immediate family. We've also been in close contact about our rabbi coordinating the ceremony the day of and will have about a half hour to practice before the actual ceremony. He's been really helpful and I made some charts of who is paired with who, and where to stand, timing etc, so I'm not as worried.

We are winging it the few mins before. They will be told the order they are walking down at the rehearsal dinner, I will be giving them itineraries so they know where they need to be when and whats going on. RH we are doing a thank you dinner at my sisters doing an Octoberfest theme dinner since we are getting married in fall. Very laid back the Thursday before the wedding. We just sent the invitations that fh and I created to vista to be printed they came out soooo cool I think I love my rh invitation more than my weddding invites lol.
