I just found this product online and thought it might be useful. I used regular tape which was okay but Im sure this is better:

Finally, adhesive that won't show through your vellum! This new adhesive is specially formulated to disappear on most vellums, and will work wonders on your invitations, cards, scrapbook pages, or anyplace else you're using vellum.
