When the baby sleeps through the night, or even just longer hours, obviously you're not BFing for those hours, does that hurt your milk supply? Does anyone get up during the night and pump? I'm trying to get as much sleep as possible, so pumping is the last thing from my mind! Just wanted to ask!

I didn't I just slept , but they say that your milk adjusts. I think if the baby sleeps once in awhile through the night it won't hurt it and when the baby sleeps more it adjusts.

Once they start sleeping through the night consistently you do not hav to pump and your milk will adjust. If they only sleep through once in a while I would pump since your milk will still be needed at that hour sometimes.

As everyone said, your milk supply should adjust as your schedule adjusts. Those first few nights you will most likely experience painful engorgement Im not looking forward to sleeping with a bra on again...
Maybe too personal, but do any of you BF experts actually sleep without one? I only BFd JA for 3m so I never got to the comfort level that I could sleep without one, I constantly had to put lotion on, leaked, needed to have comfy nursing pads on, etc. so it was an absolute must...

Re: For those of you BFing...
The first 3 months are very important to your supply. I get up and pump every single night- and I don't set an alarm. My body wakes me up hurting due to engorgement. If you stay engorged you risk plugged ducts- trust me that hurts worse then waking up to pump. Molly has slept thru the night a few times but I get up pump and often, freeze that milk. Again, my situtation may be different since I am a full-time pumper. I cannot skip pumping or my supply will go down.
I never slept in a bra- not once. I have leaked a bit at night but breastmilk doesn't stain and I just change my top if it happens. I wake up before I leak most of the time anyway. But this is just me.
I also found that Palmer's coco butter nursing creme was better for me than the waxer purple tube stuff. It doesn't need to be washed off prior to nursing and doesn't stain like the purple tube does.

i dont' pump at night becuase the baby wakes up every three hours, so I just nurse her. But the very few times she hasn't woken up, I have actually drenched my shirt from leaking. YUCK!

From what I recall I dont think Lansinoh (purple tube) needs to be wiped off prior to nursing either.

Re: For those of you BFing...
There is hope! The leaking should stop soon as your body adjusts to your baby's needs. At first I nursed the baby through the night, but now that I'm preparing to go back to work & coincidentally Maria has been sleeping through the night for about a week or so ... I've been getting up to pump. I need this milk in the freezer & this is about the only time during the day when I can get a decent amount of milk at one session. So I'm taking advantage. But if there's no reason to then you don't HAVE to. Also, if the baby is sleeping a little longer (which you want!) then pumping at that hour will continue to stimulate you to make more milk! Keep up the good work Melissa! This will get easier, I promise!

The purple tube does not need to be wiped off- but I found it stains my bras. The Palmer's does not stain. Just offering the help.
