For those of you getting married in a Catholic Church
Does the priest who is conducting your mass ask you personal questions about you and your FH's relationship? When my FH called the priest a few weeks ago he gave one number and said you can reach us both as this since me and FH are usually with each other every day. The priest asked right away if we were living together so my FH said no. I'm just wondering if he's gonna ask..ahem.. other personal questions. Also are there any priests who won't marry you if they know you are living together?
Re: For those of you getting married in a Catholic Church
we had our first meeting with the priest a few weeks ago. he didn't ask us anything personal - just if it was the first marriage for both of us. however we each did have to fill out a sheet with our contact info so they will be able to tell from that if you have the same address.
i think whether or not they will marry you depends on each church- some are more old fashioned than others.

uh oh he lied to a priest lol
yea he will take down all your personal info, including address, current parish, mother maiden name, fathers name.
As for personal, he only asked how we met, how long we dated, how the proposal went, who he asked, do the families get along, are the families supporting the marriage, and if we are related

Re: For those of you getting married in a Catholic Church
Our priest only asked us if we had been married before, and if I was Catholic (which I am not), so he could know how to proceed. He wanted to know what religion I was and he talked with us about setting up Pre Cana. I was totally nervous because FH is Catholic and I grew up Baptist. I had heard of people being denied marriage because of this at other churches but I had the best experience and we will have an interfaith ceremony.

Re: For those of you getting married in a Catholic Church
Our priest is very friendly. I'm Catholic and grew up at the church we're getting married in. FH is not Catholic, he's Episcopalian. So we had to get a 'permission' to get married.
The priest asked how we met, how long we've been together, if it's our first marriage, if we're related
Our priest also knows that we live together already. I had to put down each of our addresses on our 'permission slip' and I put the same address and phone number for both. He looked at it and said 'oh right, you already live together' and left it at that. He did ask for our cell phone numbers separately though in case he needed to get in touch with one or the other. My permission slip was mailed to the diocese.....same address, different religions, and all, and we have already officially gotten our permission to be married in the Catholic church.

Our priest did ask us some personal questions. But we don't live together, and if we did he didn't care. He was just happy that we were getting married in the church!

The pastor at my church grilled FH and I, but nothing TOO personal. He asked some of the questions that the girls have already answered with, plus more.

They really shouldn't ask you personal questions like that. The priests and deacons at our church are great and haven't asked any sexual questions like that, or if we live together.

Re: For those of you getting married in a Catholic Church
i have heard of some priests who ask very personal questions & give judgmental looks at the couple.
i am happy to say that the priest that is marrying FH & I is absolutely wonderful. he made us feel very welcome in his presence & we had a great meeting. it all depends on the priest. if the priest has an old school, can't live together before marriage mentality, good luck.
so people say just lie & tell the priest you both live on your own & have never even kissed each other in all these years. if i would of lied to the priest FH would of stormed out of the church & probably called off the wedding. i never even considering falsifying info about our relationship to the priest. i want him to make our ceremony as personal as he can & in order to do that he should knew the truth about us. IMO

He didn't ask us anything like that. Just what others said, the routine 'are you related', 'is this your first marriage', 'is there any reason you know of that you can't have children', 'are you going into this marriage willingly' etc.
