have had their tastings. I called the RH last week to schedule our tasting. He said that the tasting consists of 3 entrees selected by the chef (out of like 15 choices). No hors d'ouvres, no sides, nothing extra, with us selecting nothing. So...that didn't seem worth doing to me considering the odds of them selecting the 3 entrees we would like, is very slim.
Anyway, he said that all other tastings are likes this but I've heard from friends that they've had more than this at their tasting. I would like to hear from other people what they've had at theirs and how it was set up. I don't know if I should make a big stink about this or not.
TIA!

Re: For those of you who...
crashing..
I only did the tasting at the RH we ended up booking, but we had something like 10 different hor'derves, 2 different entrees, a sushi plate, and a dim sum plate. Then they gave us 7 or so different mini pastries for dessert. We also had (I think) 3 bottles of champagne (there was 7 of us). We didn't get to pick any of the things we had, but everything was delicious.

Re: For those of you who...
We did a tasting at our RH and told them having a tasting was necessary before we booked and they set us up with everything the chef was cooking for the event going on that night. We had so much food it was crazy. I know we had at minimum 5 entrees and 3 hor'derves. Only thing we didnt try was dessert, but we had that at a showcase.

Re: For those of you who...
We did a tasting before booking and it consisted of some appetizers (not many) and three or four different entrees. The entrees were the entrees that were being served at the party that was being held at the same time. I was ok with the limited tasting because I had been to showcases where we had tried lots of their cocktail hour foods.

For our tasting we got to try the 7 entree choices that the guests have. We also got to try 2 cocktail hour dishes and sampler platter of the desserts that will be at our viennese.

Re: For those of you who...
I did a tasting before we signed that consisted of 3 dinners. It was the 3 choices of a party that was going on and we sat in the bar/pub area away from the party. I've been to several showcases where you can try passed hors d'ouvres and some menu upgrades. I was under the impression when you went for your menu tasting that you got to try a little of everything. A few passed hors d'ouvres and some dinner entrees. Let me know how it goes and what they do for your tasting. Good luck Thanks

Re: For those of you who...
i think that is the Lessings standard for a tasting. For Bourne (also lessings) we had the same thing. They do not taste for your menu, but for quality and presentation. I was not happy with this, but went anyway. We did end up tasting something we thought we were going to put on the menu and ended up not because I didn't like it, so that was a plus. We also tasted a bunch of CH food at a showcase and it was really good.

We're at the Bourne, too, and I thought the tasting would be to choose a menu, too. However, they brought out 3 entrees. I'm a vegetarian, so I tasted 3 potatoes and some green beans haha...It was still worth going though because everyone agreed that the food was delicious which set our minds at ease, and there was one dish that people didn't like, so it was worth it to go.

Re: For those of you who...
Our tasting was unreal. They had a mini greeting table set up which is basically part of CH hour with kinds of salads, veggies, cheeses and dips. We then got to try 8 or so of the passed hors devores. Then we were served 4 appitizers and 4 of the entrees. (We each had a parent with us). Um then we had the tasting plate of three small desserts, coffee and we got to mix and match cakes, fillings and frostings for our wedding cake. All of this was served with wine, soft drinks and coffee. I could barely move when we left because it was so much food.
The Woodlands did a fantastic job with our tasting. The food was amazing!

Re: For those of you who...
My RH offers a tasting after you book. It will consist of all food offered at the wedding. We have 11 choices for dinner and we will get to taste all 11. I am told by other brides that got married there that the tasting lasts about 4 hours. I am so excited and cant wait to taste everything.

I don't know if its a standard. I've found each one to be very different depending on who runs it. I'm at Smiththown Landing CC and we were given the whole nine yards before we even booked. We started with a salad, had a variety of hors d'oeuvres after that, then had 3 items from the main courses. But you're right, if there is an event going on they give you a sampling of what is on their menu or else the chef picks. The food was delish at SLCC so we booked on the spot. There were a lot of things that we got different answers to between the two Lessings places though.
