For those of you who are donating in lieu of the favors!

American Cancer Society has beautiful personalized wedding scrolls! They are $3 each and everything goes to ACS...their website is www.cancer.org. We are making an additional donation and my company has a matching gift program. Since both of our lives have been affected by this illness (we both lost family and friends to cancer), we decided that this is the BEST way to honor our loved ones and contribute to the continuing treatment and reseach for cure for cancer.

Just thought I'd share this with you

i love it!! i think it is so nice of you to do something like that-- as a guest, i would give up ANY favor to see that money goes to a good cause like that.

i'm doing a donation to madd for our friend. i REALLY wish madd had scrolls like that though. i guess they don't get people wanting to donate for weddings as often as the cancer society does so i'm going to get them made up by a printing place.

omg i love it but i can't really make out what is said on it... do you have it so that you could copy and paste it so it's readable?

i might be able to take part of it and use it for what i need to write-- i have NO idea what to write and how to word it for the MADD one i'm doing!!

We did the matching gift thing with our company as well...It was soooo easy. I'm having them match all my donations from now on because they will match up to $25,000 per year!

I'm so glad the donation in lieu of favors is catching on. I'm always pushing donations to Children's Hospital Boston in lieu of favors on The Knot's Boston board. It really is a great way to use your wedding as a catalyst to do something good for others.

Its wonderful that you can give to soemthing that is meaningful to you and fh. When I was looking for a charity to donate to we had a hard time simply because we have both been lucky enough not to have lost onyone to any of the causes. Since I have lots of kids in my famly and we plan on havig kids of our own I looked into St Jude's childrens hospital which has something similar with personaized scrolls or bookmarks( which are really cute and I think we are doing with our favors) you donate however much you want to and request a number of scrolls or book marks and they have matching gift donations as well...just another option for thoes out there struggling to pick a charity for donations.
