For those of you who did donations.....

For those of you who did donations.....

How did you express that to your guests?

Did you make your own scrolls, cards, what and what did you say????

Does the place you donated to give you something (like notes) that you place on the tables? Please ladies, tell me what you did or how to do this.

I would like to make two donations, one to the American Caner Society in honor of my father who dies of cancer and FI's mother who has breast cancer. And we were also thinking of Save the Sound, becasue our wedding is right on the beach on the north shore.

Any suggestions would be great or even a website that has ideas...

Thanks!

Re: For those of you who did donations.....

We donated to the American Cancer Society in memory of FHs dad. We are giving organza bags of Hershey kisses and we made little cards to attatch that say we made the donation in memorey of XXXX XXXXX. We did this a long time ago.

Just the other day I called the Am Cancer Soc to find info about sending the check and she told me they give you scrolls (with a very nice saying) as many as you need for you wedding. I had already made up my cards and attatched them so I got 40 scrolls and I will just leave 2 on each table

Also anyone that is doing this I bought a choclate mold in the shape of the support ribbons. You can either borrow the mold or I can make them for you and you buy the supplies. Just FM if you want more info.

I had scrolls made and attached them with personalized ribbon to tulle rounds that were filled with foil wrapped balls of dark chocolate that looked like the earth.

I got my scrolls from www.messagescrolls.com, but we got our scrolls well below advertised price b/c we happened to be donating to CARE International which is the organization they support as well.

You could make your own scrolls, or simple little cards. Or even put a framed message on each table, put a message on the back of each place card, or a framed message by the guest book.

The scrolls that they give are beautful! They even print your names and your wedding date on them. My girlfriend just did this for her wedding last weekend.

I think we are going to donate to an irish immigration center near our apartment. I doubt they give out cards, but I never thought about that for other more established funds/organizations.

I am taking an idea from someone on here (I'm sorry I forget who it was and I deleted all my FM's but I think it was MarcellaBella??) that said they made scrolls and put small rings around them to hold them in place and burnt the sides of the paper to make it look 'authentic' scroll looking. I think I may buy a scissor that cuts scalloped shapes instead, but before I cut them I will print the words up on a laser printer first. I haven't looked for website examples but if I find one I'll pass it on.

We wrapped Hugs and Kisses and attached this poem:

Hugs and kisses we give to you,
and something special we did too.
We did something we should of from the start,
we made a donation with love in our hearts.

A donation has been made to the American Cancer Society.

Make a donation to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, in return, they will supply you with elegant scrolls for each of your guest. For more information, visit

We made a donation to the Twin Towers Fund and made our own cards and attached American Flag pins to them. We left one for every place, and during the wedding we saw many people wearing the pins.
