For those of you who did it: Disposable cameras, any experience with them?

For those of you who did it: Disposable cameras, any experience with them?

I have been thinking about putting one on each table ... but now, I am wondering if it is any worthy or fun. Any feedback?

Thanks,

Elena

1. these are the first pictures you get back...and just for that...it is so exciting...

2. they may not be that great, but you see the wedding from a guest perspective...I was able to get pics from my disposables to send to almost every guest...and I have pictures of guests that the photographer didn't get...

3. use a scavenger hunt...that way you don't get 10 tiny pictures of your first dance...

4. DH and I were cracking up when we saw what one guest did...he staged pictures of him passed out on the floor...puking in the toilet...peeing in a tree....these were people that I worked with...so I missed out on all the fun at their table...but I was able to see it in the photos...

so the whole thing cost me $110 for the cameras and $60 for developing...in the realm of wedding expenses...its nothing for the excitement you get...

Just an opinion.... I will def be doing it.... What if the photog. messes up or I just want simple pics- 300 plus to show others--- different angles and stuff.... I think it is definitely the way to go!

We did them as well & it was worth every penny!!!
My advice-buy quality cameras!
We did a scanvenger hunt & about 5 tables really tried to get everything. Some of the pictures are truly priceless and really capture the guests point of view.
Here's an example of what we got-I scanned them poorly, the quality is actually good.

I'm sure you get the point!

I am going to do the cameras with the scavenger hunt I think it will be fun for me and the guests. If you do a search there are poems that can be put on the cameras and lists for the scavenger hunt..

i had 20 tables and did 10 b/w cameras and 10 regular, a lot of the shots were priceless, I was really glad I did it!

the b&w's are amazing, but we couldn't find them anywhere! Most of the pix I scanned were from table cam's & they were great quality ... AS LONG AS THE GUESTS WERE NOT HOLDING THEIR FINGER IN FRONT ... I've got a table full of great pix w/someone's finger in the way!!

The scavenger hunt went great ... some really funny stuff! Go for it, they're reasonable to buy, easy to set up & worth it when you get them back!

Do not buy refurbished cameras off ebay.I did and half of them didn't work so I was ripped off. They looked like they were in great shape but the flaws were covered by the wedding covers they put on them.We didn't realize until at the wedding that some didn't have a working flash. When we brought them in to be developed, some were so badly damaged inside that they couldn't develop and some pictures came out so dark you couldn't make anything out.

I agree with everything that yabbo said. I did them with the sanvenger hunt and got some great pictures. The photographer did not get a picture of every guest but I did with my table cameras! The guests also got a kick out of the scavenger hunt and I got some unique pictures (at least those table that did do it).

One word of advice is to put a note telling them not to use them to take far away pictures. I got a lot of very dark pictures due to people taking things far away.

I did still get lots of our first dance or our dances with parents or cake cutting but for the unique pictures I got it is so worth the money and time I invested (scavenger hunt prep).

I bought Kodak cameras (the yellow ones) in Costco - 3 for like $12 and I wrapped them in maroon bags (matched my color scheme) and tied it with ivory ribbons.

We used Kodak Fun Savers from Costco. Were going to skip it because we had great photographers and other guests with cameras so we thought it might be overkill but Im glad I did get them anyway because we got a few great photos.

Here are my photos to give you an idea if you think they are worth it or not:
Table Cameras

We put 11 cameras out, got 10 back (still wondering what happened to that last one). Of the 240 photos developed, 55 are keepers. Still worth it to us but it depends on what your budget is.

We got our cameras at BJ's or price club and we thought it was worth it. We got all of our cameras back, someone went around and made sure all the pictures were taken on each camera. There are a lot of standard shots but also a lot of candid shots that the photographer might not get. It was worth every penny to us.

We used table cameras and they were 100% worth it!! We also put a scavenger hunt list with each camera and got a good diversity of shots! There were a lot of priceless pics of people dancing and group photos that the photographer would not have gotten. Given what everything else costs for the wedding, this expense was so worth it!....Plus you get these pictures back right away!

We did it and the pic in my profile is one of my favorite pics from our wedding (even including the photogs proofs) and a guest took it from the table cameras (I changed it to BW in Photoshop). Just remember to have someone in charge of the them...that they get used etc. My brother went around an hour before and picked them up and checked them then used the rest of the pics if they had ones left, this way you get all the pics used and are still able to to have an hour left for photo ops if they weren't. I am a picture freak and I love looking at those pics more than my proofs sometimes!!

Ok, I am going to be the only one who says all of my table pics were awful. I don't know if the lighting was bad or what, or my guests are just fuddy duddies. I had the kodak wedding pack and the pics are all so dark. The darker ones are those taken further away so I guess that is to be expected.

Did everyone use the Kodak cameras, or the ones with that have wedding covers on it??

I used the Kodak wedding cameras. As long as you use Kodak it doesn't matter what the cover looks like. I can't stress enough the importance of getting your guests to use the flash. They take great pictures. For me it was worth it because my mother-in-law's video busted and my dad video was all messed up. I've been married almost a month and I don't have anything but the table cameras pictures to show people right now!

By the way I didn't do a scavenger hunt and I did end up with 20 pictures of us cutting the cake. So you should definitely do it.
