for those of you who have or have had tips on your nails....
How long before the wedding do you think I should have this done? I have finally conceded to the fact that I will not have my natural nails grown out for the wedding (i'm a nail biter, and can't seem to quit). I have only had tips twice in my life, back in high school, and remember feeling very awkward with them on. I want to have time to get used to them before the wedding. After how long do you have to have them filled? Thanks in advance!

usually you have them filled every 2 weeks. I would put them on like 5 days before the wedding... esp. if you want to have french.. you dont want it to get dull before the big day! Just get them very short - they look more natural that way anyway

you should start about a month before to adjust to them. then fill in 2 weeks after and then a couple of days before or better the day before! but be carefull on who you go to! i am having a problem with mine right now and the wedding is in a week! good uck! p.s/ when they ask how long you want them it's best to say a workable length(short) easy to work with!

Definitely a little before. I remember the first time I had them on, I felt like I was going to break them off so I would grab everything with my ball joints. Now I am used to them but I have had them for a few years. I am thinking of getting rid of them after the wedding.

I would do them a month or two before, I always hate the shape and stuff when tehy first go on, I like to let them grow out a little.

yes, get them early so you have a few months to get used to them. They start looking more natural too. I would definetly say short when they ask you the length, they will grow and you can get them cut down or left long. Gives you time to play with that, and different types of french or color styles too.

I would suggest a least a month before- so you can get use to having them...also another suggestion- go with the pink and whites..it's when they do a french right on the nail with the acrylic and not with the polish..so it's actually part of the nail...so no fading and it looks alot more natural looking...

Definitely at least a month before so that you can get used to them. If you keep them short they will be easier to adjust to.

I agree with the other girls go at least a month or two before. Not only does it take time for you to get used to them but until you get the first fill in they look like crap. Don't get upset if you dont like the way they looks as soon as you get them done they will look better after the first or second fill in. Get your fill in a day or two before the wedding b/c when they do them they are sharp and u need to dull them down so that you don't put holes in your stockings.
There is also a great place to get them done in Merrick called Marla's. They specialize in the 'pink and white' or permenant French. It is a little more expensive then regular tips but the 'polish' never comes off. It is pink and white acrylic that they mold to look like a french manicure. I found that I can go 3 to 4 weeks without getting them filled there and they still look good. I wouldn't recommend that anywhere else though since water can get in and cause fugus's
Good luck

The answer depends on where you go. Don't go to the 'chop shop' corner nail spot. Go somewhere good. I have been getting my nails done for years. I have an acrylic overlay on my natural nails. What that means is, if your natural nails are at all somewhat long, then they just put acrylic over them and you don't need tips. If there is one that is a little shorter, they can put a form on it, build it up with acrylic, and remove the form. You still won't need a tip.
If you have 'nubs' . . . then you'll have to go with tips, and as the other ladies suggested, I would start about two months before your wedding. You'll get used to the feel, and you'll grow into the shape. When you first get them done, they'll be alittle squarish. No matter how much they file them, they'll still be a bit square. Everyday wear will make them more natural looking.
Also, I would recommend that you ask for active length. Otherwise, they may just assume you want claws! That's kind of tacky and you probably won't like it since it's such a dramatic change.
I hope all this info helps. If you have any questions, FM me.
Good Luck!

I just had the permenant french done today, they came out nice...$40 w/ a $5 off coupon but no need for re-polish that often and will not get dull or chip..fill ins $18...I would suggest them.
