I'm clueless with this. We were going to get a real tree (like I had every year growing up ), but I'm so worried about the 'dangers' if it dries up ()!
Any recos on where to buy one (read: reasonably priced) and/or what to look for??
Thanks for any help!!

Re: For those of you with fake trees...
If you can go one more year with a real tree, wait until January and buy one at Fortunoff or Montalbano's. We bought our tree last January. It's a $500 tree and we paid $175. It's GORGEOUS.
The Mr. Christmas line of fake trees are some of the best, very real looking, and sturdy, with umbrella set up. Definitely get the umbrella set up, it's so much easier than those that come in pieces.
Also, you may want to look for ones that have the heavy duty branches intertwined in the regular ones. Our have extra sturdy branches every few inches for heavy ornaments. Very worth it!!

Try BJ's, (if you're a member) I saw a few really beautiful fake trees there. And I'm with Misty, get the umbrella set up kind, the ones with all of those separate branches will drive you insane.

Re: For those of you with fake trees...
We got ours at Target (the best thing to do is wait for the after Christmas sale) plus now it may be harder to find anything (since stuff is out of stock). I have the tree that each limb is put in separately and is a pain to set up but it looks more real that way IMO. I have heard the pre-lit trees are awesome and so easy to set up but they just recently came out with them and we bought our tree 2 years ago.
Good Luck! Let's see pictures of that adorable little guy in front of the tree when you get one!!

I never thought I'd say this but I LOVE MY KMART TREEE! I got it on sale for $70 and its pre-lit (you can get white or multi-color). The best part is it revolves around in slow motion its the coolest tree.

we bought a fake tree this year. We bought it at Sears. It was the last one, well it was the floor model. It is 9 feet high and full. We paid $140.

Re: For those of you with fake trees...
I'm glad I seem to be in the minority but my experience with a pre lit tree has been awful.
I have a tree from Harrows and I love the tree itself but it's prelit and that part drives me crazy. For some reason when one bulb goes bad the whole strand does so then we have to test every bulb to figure out which one it is. We took the entire top part off of it Tuesday night because one strand went bad Pat had to check each bulbs' fuses, and of course all the ornaments came off, too. We already have one strand that went bad and we can't figure out why so that part faces the wall. It's a nightmare. This is our third season with it and after it comes down we're probably cutting the lights off, which should take long enough that by the time we're finished it'll be time to start shopping for Christmas '04.
Hmmm...maybe I'll throw a Help-Jenn-and-Pat-Cut-the-Lights-off-the-Tree Party. I'll supply the 6 ft hero but please bring your own wire cutters.

Thanks, ladies!
We've decided to go w/ a real tree this year, (although I probably won't put any lights on it) and wait for the after-sales to get an artificial one!
We're getting it on Monday!! Better late than never!

I agree with Misty. That is exactly what we are doing and where we are going after Christmas.
