I am going to purchase a wok. Do you know if it is better to get an electric one or stovetop one to cook chinese dishes?

Re: For those of you with Woks...
We have a stovetop one and it's awesome! I don't know much about electric woks though, so I can't compare the two.

I have a Commercial Style Stainless Steel Stove top WOK. I love it and I would never get an Electric one. It is so easy to use, and so easy to clean....You just gotta remember to oil it after each use, so it doesnt rust.

Re: For those of you with Woks...
I have a stovetop wok and I love it. I actually miss it because my husband was transferred to Ireland and my wok (and all my good cooking tools) is now in storage back home. :(
Here's my recipe for shrimp fried rice.
1 bunch scallions (whites & pale green thinly sliced, green steams sliced into 1inch pieces) 6 or 7 garlic cloves chopped (or more if you like) 1 small piece of ginger peeled and chopped 1 egg peanut oil sesame oil soy sauce to taste white riced cooked and placed in fridge to get cold (sometimes during the week I cheat and buy a pint from the chinese shop to save time) shrimp chopped into 1 inch pieces.
Heat wok until hot, add a some peanut oil and fry egg (like an omelet). Remove from wok, chop and set aside. Add more oil then stir fry garlic, ginger and whites of onions, approximately 1 to 2 minutes. Add rice and soy sauce to taste. Stir fry for a few minutes. Then add green onion tops shrimp and egg and cook until shrimp just turns pink.
It is really easy and yummy. Also, believe it or not Betty Crocker has a great chinese cookbook with a lot of good and easy recipes. Two of my favs is shredded veal with a ginger sauce and the shrimp toast. My family does Chinese New Year and we use that book and it is sooooo good!!
