Do you guys think of getting a second job to make things easier? I am really thinking of doing this. I am so lasy though.
I want to pay off things as quickly as possible.

Re: for those paying for the weddings themselves....
We are just working within our budget. While a wedding is a really special time, I don't think anyone should break the bank, unless they can. We would rather do what we can and save for a house. Which will last longer than a one-day wedding. We both have enough funds between us now though, to do something very nice. But we would not get second jobs

I'm BROKE but I just don't have ANY time. I've been working F/T, school 2 nights a week (I work late 1 night a week) and I just starting teaching CCD to 5th graders (for experience in teaching) All of this on top of planning a wedding leaves me 0 free minutes in a day

I am making a lot of sacrifices, but I can't imagine getting a 2nd job, I barely have time for myself now

It really depends on what your first job is.
When I was younger, I would occassionally work a second job to be able to go on vacation or something.
But if a second job is going to stress you unduly or put your career at risk, then its probably not a great idea.

I agree with Lizlen. A second job would leave me no time for anything. I did consider it a while back, but we decided to sacrafice alot of things. No more dinners out, and I have cut my shopping to a minimum. Good luck with your decision.

I agree. If you get another job, you won't have time to do anything. We just cut back on going out to eat and stuff like that.

We are paying for the wedding ourselves also. We made a budget when we got engaged to figure out what we can afford and if we stick to that budget we should be fine. I see nothing wrong with getting a second job though if you have the time and it makes things easier for you. Good Luck!!!

FH already has a second job and I was considering getting a second one, but he says I am unbearable when I work 2 jobs - that I get really b**chy and stressed out and snappish - all true by the way. But I don't think he should have to shoulder the burden of being the only one who works a second job. I'm still pondering it.

Absolutely agree! It is just so expensive. I started doing Pampered Chef as a second job because I could make my own hours so even if I only work 2 times a month extra it helps so much!

Believe me ladies, I have cut back alot. I do not shop as much, I do not splurge on expensive lunches. By FI was just complaining that we do not go out anymore.
I have a pretty decent job, but a little extra would not hurt.

I would love to get a second job if I could make my own hours. I already work 8-5 M-F, any ideas??? Something I could do from home? On the computer? Now, THAT would be ideal.

Re: for those paying for the weddings themselves....
I'm with you Mims, i need something from home, a job involving the computer for extra $$ Like others, a second job would leave me w/ NO time, nada, nothing, and i would be so stressed, don't know if it would be worth it. But, we need to pay for this wedding!! Thank god FH does not have debt like I do.

I don't have enough time in the day for a second job so we are just going to be poor for a while after the wedding.

I don't have enough time either to work two jobs. Keep in mine though...It may hurt you when you file your taxes. It could put you in a higher tax bracket and you may end up paying for it in the end.

Re: for those paying for the weddings themselves....
I just got involved with a company called Looking Glass in Syosset. I did it as a fluke for I have no idea why, when I registered. I started getting e-mails sent to me weekly and after the third one I opened it (the other two I deleted) it was for focus groups. Last night I received a phone call to do a market research study from Looking Glass and they pay $125 in cash to give your opinion on products for hair! This is not a joke or some wacky company. Apparently they do this for companies that are looking to launch new products in the market. The surveys are done in the evenings.
I have the contact information if anyone would like it. An extra $125 in my pocket is worth it for 3 hours of giving my opinion I think. However I don't know how often you could do a survey or if you qualify for any at that point in time but its worth a try to register. It doesn't hurt. Since they are constantly getting companies requesting to do focus groups for them.

Re: for those paying for the weddings themselves....
We are getting some help but my FH took a second job as a bartender to make some extra cash. Let me tell you it helped us a lot b/c we just put away all of his paycheck from his real job and paid our weding bills with the extra money. A cash job also comes in handy b/c some of our vendors only take cash and I didn't have to go running to the bank every five minutes. If I had the time I would have gotten a part time job.
