For those taking dance lessons UPDATED with YouTube links!!

Did you learn a specific dance according to your song, for example the waltz?

I spoke to a ballroom dance instructor yesterday, she mentioned learning the 'night club two step'
She said its a dance suitable for many slower dance songs.

Just wondering what everyone is planning?

------UPDATE------
Ok so I went on youtube and this is what I found:

Waltz

Rumba

Fox Trot

Nightclub Two Step

I was really surprised when I viewed so many of the videos on YouTube FH and I want to have a beautiful dance but I had no idea people were including the (IMO) 'dramatic' choreography. I guess if you are paying for lessons and they will teach you all that then go for it

We are doing private lessons that will teach us a dance to our song. I think you can do it either way. Group lessons are less $$ and y ou will learn certain dance. Private lessons i think you can learn either. We are going to Arthur Murray in plainview.

We're learning the fox trot. Its pretty versatile for most slow songs

FH and I are talking group lessons right now to learn back ballroom stuff and then we have private lessons to learn moves for our song. We're using the group lessons to figure out which dance is the easiest for FH to do.

Our first dance is a little faster than most, so we are doing the rumba. But we also learn all the other dances too. As well we are Arthur Murray, very nice but very

We took dance lessions awhile ago- a bday present to me from FH. We were going to go back and choreograph our wedding song, but we still haven't decided on what it's going to be so scratch that Although we did see other couples doing that and it was great.... We actually took lessions with Eilecia from Bovard Dance Studios (vendor on here). She's very patient & does private lessons.

We learned the Foxy - which is a popular slow dance they teach that you can do to any slow song... Might be similar to the nightclub dance they mentioned.... Have fun!!!

I am actually excited about learning the dances. I took a ballroom course in college for Phys Ed credits and loved it FH seems quite interested too!
Instructor wants me to go on youtube and look at the different dance types to see what we like.
I will look up rumba, foxtrot and anything else I can find to compare!

We are taking 2 types of lessons - both are group classes. The 1st type is teaching us merengue and swing and things of that nature, and the other class is strictly for slow dancing. I actually don't want a dance choreographed just for our song b/c that's just one more thing I need to be nervous about on my wedding day LOL. The slow dance lessons we're taking are great and will work with any slow song out there.
