For those that are doing (or did) Unity Candles...

Did you write anything about it in your program? Like a description or something?

I just mentioned the Unity Candle ceremony in the program. Our minister said that he will give a brief description of the ceremony as it is going on.

just listed 'Lighting of the Unity' candle and the hymn that was sung as we lit it. the priest explained the symbolism right before we went to light it.

Re: For those that are doing (or did) Unity Candles...

Its kind of long, but this is what im writing because some people may not know what a unity candle is... hope it helps!---

Danielle and Matthew are going to light their Unity Candle, a symbol of their relationship and love. The candles from which they light it have been lit by their parents to represent their lives to this moment.

The lights, representing the faith, wisdom, and love they have received from their parents, are distinct, each burning alone. Danielle and Matthew will light the center candle to symbolize the union of their lives. As this one light burns undivided, so shall their love be one.

May the radiance of this one light be a testimony of their unity. May these candles burn brightly as symbols of their commitment to each other, and as a tribute to their parents' everlasting love for them.

We did it at the RH and no I didn't write anything in any program. I felt people already knew what it symbolized.
