For those that attended UMBERTOS &/or had RDs @ informal italian resaurants...

Question.... FH and I must secure a RD place ASAP.

Criteria:
>we expect approx. 30-35 people
>prefer an informal italian restaurant w/ good food and will offer us a private room
>Nassau County area (prefer NShore but not a must)
> INEXPENSIVE!!!

Would you happen to know if Umbertos (or anywhere else for that matter) fits this description??? We definitely want an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Afterwards we're considering bowling or playing pool to help acquaint folks.
Based on recommendations from other ladies here we will also be looking into the Wantagh Inn & Wickers. (...not sure the cuisine they specialize in though) Suggestions please ladies Thanks!

For those that have been to Umbertos I'm looking for comments on food, atmosphere, etc. For those that have had a RD or another function there, pricing, menu offerings, easy to work with...that type of thing.

Also, what are other recommendations for informal italian restaurants, etc. that fit the criteria mentioned in my original post?
Hope this brings clarity. Thanks!

You have FM. I love the food there and the service is great.

Our November GTG was there also.

We had our RD at Umberto's in New Hyde Park - upstairs in a private room. The food and service was great. We had about 35 people. I am not sure about the price though as my mother-in-law was kind enough to pay for it.

King Umbertos is the one in Elmont. I love that place and would have had my RD dinner there. But his parents are paying and wanted to at their favorite restaurant. At this point of the game, I said fine but I would HIGHLY recommend King Umbertos. I had my sisters shower there and we have tons of family parties there. they treat you very well and the food is delicious...
