Our DJ gave us the micrpophone but he didn't charge us for them. He did say if we didn't use them no one would be able to hear us. Hopefully your Dj can work with you on price a bit...$250 sounds steep to me!

It is absolutely worth the extra expense.
We were just at an outdoor wedding, and it was nearly impossible to hear ANYTHING!!!!

Re: For those that had outdoor ceremonies...
Definatley do it. I didn't even think about requesting one until the day of & it was too late at the point. Our DJ didn't even mention/suggest it to me before hand either. MY RH had one but it was not wireless & the cord was not long enough. Many of my guest did not hear our vows because of this. Not having a MIC is one of my biggest regrets.
ETA: I just realized you are using my DJ. He is probably suggesting it to you because of what happened with me. I will FM you with more details.

Yeah, it may have been b/c of your wedding that he even suggested it. I've always felt that the ceremony is THE most important part of the wedding so, I guess I'll do it, but I am going to try & negotiate the price!!
