I grew up in Williston Park but I just bought a house in Commack. When I was looking for a house, I was on www.mlsli.com all the time. It has all the homes/condos etc for sale on LI that are on the Multiple Listing. You can see the price, taxes, school district, interior pics etc. Great website.

Also, check out the school district before chosing a neighborhood. Even if you dont plan on having kids or you think maybe you'll move if you have kids, it's still easier to SELL your house when you're in a good school district.
