? for those that work in Admin./office mgr. positions

I received a call for a job opening as Admin/office mgr. asst. at a hospital . Just curious as to what exactly I'd be doing as an assistant. I have a pretty good idea in general but just wanted to know from those that are in the field.
TIA

a lot of paperwork!
I'm a Business Systems Aministrator for my company and I am knee deep in paperwork - approving capital expenditures; approving personnel paperwork (new hires, promotions, transfers, terminations); representation agreements with clients; doing division budgets & company wide budgets; tracking of expenses, personnel, commission earned; track industry movement & budgeted items; reporting & forecasting on sales & budgets, reporting on actual billing for the industry & company; reporting on pacings for the industry & company, growth charts, etc ...

I'm sure hospitals differ in terms of the 'what' exactly but I would think paperwork nontheless!

WHich hospital? I am a Administrative Manager at NYPH-Cornell, it really depends on what area you will be working in what will be your responsibilities, each job function does involve certain things, but Yes Paperwork is still very MAJOR with Hospitals, certain things just can't be transferred into the electronic etc...it's a lot of paper shuffling between your office and other offices etc...

I work as an Executive Assistant and yes, there is a lot of paperwork as well as answering the phone, filing, drafting letters/memos, travel arrangements, meeting planning, etc. and there is occasional (at least in my position) personal work.

I have been in this field for almost 10 years. I have worked from small offices to large businesses. In a smaller office you run the day-to-day operation of the office, inlcuding purchasing, A/R, A/P, Collections, set up computers, deal with computer issues, handle staff issues, run office events, set up the calendar.

In a larger office i find its more project oriented. there is a lot of buerercracy in a bigger office so you have to do a lot of paperwork. I also work on specific projects as they come in.

I love my job. I have found my niche in the workplace that is for sure!

You have a master's degree in office administration? I didn't know they had such a thing. There are jobs out there, with a masters degree you should be on top.
