For those who are paying for their wedding themselves: are you planning on giving your parents gifts????

I'm thinking of a double sided picture frame, on where the invite goes on one side and one of our wedding pics on the other side. Depending upon what I find, I might do silver frames that can be engraved.

I got his dad cufflinks engraved w/ his initials, and his mom a necklace & earring set that goes w/ her brown dress. and my mom I bought her a pearl necklace to go with her dress. Neither of our parents are paying into the wedding necessarily, but I felt like it was a nice gesture to give them something after all they've given us.

yes, we gave them tickets to see a broadway play, and 8x10 glass frames and then I gave both mother's a handkercheif with a poem...

We are ~ we are giving our parents photo albums and some small little things... hankies for the parents..

Yes. We figure that they raised us and made us the people that we are - they deserve a thank you!
My mom gave us a monetary gift that we chose to use towards the wedding, but we're paying for everything completely by ourselves.

We're probably going to pay for their photo albums after the wedding (we're using 12th Night so there are no albums included in the package so we can make them nice big ones online).

yes we are. I am giving my mom a lenox statue... The dads and FMIL will get stuff too...like a nice hankie with a saying or something like that

Yes -- we gave them gifts, simply because we were honored that they raised us the way they did so that we wound up being the people we are -- whether they paid for our wedding or not -- they have been there since we were born!

We thought about this for a while since we are paying for the wedding completely on our own and there are three sets of parents since my parents are both re-married. I would feel wierd not getting them something. After all they did in raising me? It just seems like a good time to give them a sentimental gift to thank them for helping me become who I am and be where I am today.
I don't think FH is going to give his parents anything. They haven't helped in any way for the wedding and he is a little bitter. My mom is trying to help in any way she can by making my centerpieces and helping to put my invitations together. I saw a nice frame that is engraved with a nice saying and on one side goes a baby picture and on the other your wedding picture. I need to think of something else to get too.

My parents are helping us, but the majority of it is on us. I have an aunt that helped as well. I'm giving ALL of my aunts and both sets of parents albums, probably for xmas.
We told my parents we'd like to pay for one of their cruise excursions, but mom's not so keen on it (I don't know why). The other thing I was considering was a digital picture frame.
