I'm just curious to hear some feedback. I'm not dreading it or nervous at all - just wondering what to expect. I'm pretty sure I have a good idea of what topics will be covered, but I'm curious how much we're expected to talk / share about ourselves. (We're VERY private people about many things, somewhat shy, and have little desire to reveal too much to complete strangers... uh, despite my billions of LIW posts! )
And as an aside, we live together and do not want children. (Yes, I KNOW...) I'm just curious if either topic came up at pre-cana and how it was handled.

Re: for those who already did pre-cana
We pretended we didn't live together...they don't like that. As long as you have discussed all the life long plans then it will be a piece of cake. If you have decided that you don't want children that is your business. It is between you and your FH. Problems arise in precana when these issues have not been discussed. FYI-they do try to influence you to have children but in our group your personal plans were never discussed openly. HTH

Re: for those who already did pre-cana
My church did not ask if we lived together, so we didn't offer!
It really was pretty fun. The only time we talked was to introduce ourselves.
It really wasn't a public setting for my church. Each couple had their own table and we worked by ourselves for each exercise. It is more focused on just the two of you.
They had older couples talk about the challenges that came about in their marriage. ie, one developed an illness, in-law problems, financial problems.

Oh, I get it! Thanks so much. That actually sounds a lot nicer if you get to work together, just the two of you. I just didn't want it to turn into having to share things with the group -- that wouldn't make either one of us comfortable!
We weren't planning to offer up either piece of information (regarding living together or kids).
I know we've discussed just about anything, so I'm not too worried.

Re: for those who already did pre-cana
Kara, I personally loved pre-cana. There were 2 other couples besides ourselves and we were asked questions about our relationship, children and God. Basically the way our pre-cana couple did it was they asked a question and went to each of the couples for their answers. I kind of felt like it was therapy and I loved it. They don't ask anything too personal. I wouldn't worry too much.
Good luck.
BTW, Rob and I live together and our pre-cana couple new that; it was not a problem or issue.

Re: for those who already did pre-cana
FH and I really enjoyed pre-cana and we thought we wouldn't because we're pretty private too.
Every place does it different, but they usually have an older couple who's been together for a long time conduct it. They never asked if any of us lived together and when people volunteered that they did, it wasn't an issue. They talk about the problems that may arise in a marriage and how to communicate and stuff.
It's really quite fun. You are in no way obligated to share anything personal unless you want to. I think pre-cana is more difficult for couples who have not really spoken about the important issues that they may face yet.
