ive never seen a locked thread there nor on theknot.com (and the knot girls are way harsh) the knot also has a newlywed board...

I am a heavy participator on Ultimate Wedding and they are absolutely terrible when it coms to censoring posts. They deleted posts they don't like, throw off members that are contributing but also complaining. Trust me - this is soo much better.

I was once a member of the infamous UW boards and let me tell you, if you have your own opinion do not go there if you want to have an opinion of your own or question their motives for doing certain things. I was kicked off the site b/c I questioned why a buddy of mine journal was deleted. SOmetimes the grass is not always greener.

I will tell you that UW DOES lock threads when they get to a certain boiling point- and if one of the posters is a nasty, mean sprited person they are also locked out. It is not in a bad way, I don't feel but of course there have been some real pyschos (as with ALL Internet sites) that are not real brides and post stuff like 'Didn't she deserve to get raped?' stuff like that. But UW is a very different community than LIWedding. UW is brides from ALL over the World discussing everything from homes, to marriage to life after marriage. I love UW because of the journals and friendships I have made. You get to know the other brides and their lives in greater details. LIWeddings is great for us to come together to discuss local issues. Remember there are girls on UW who paid $3500 for the ENTIRE wedding and cannot relate to some of our issues on LI. They do cash bars at their weddings and other 'no-no' stuff in our World (well I think cash bars should never be, but that IMO). All of the sites give us a different place to go for different answers

The reason I found this site is because I wanted a local flair in my planning process - i.e., Long Island. I am a regular poster on Wedding Channel.com (as Mrs.C *5-11-02*) and on Ultimate Weddings (as May 11, 2002 Bride)... However, they are no where as nearly helpful as this site is!!! Wedding Channel.com is very NYC related and UW is just all over the place, location wise.
All boards I participate on lock down threads and ban members, if that's what you want to call it. Don't abandon LIWeddings. It's more helpful that you know!!
I visit UW frequently and also post on WC and theknot...I think all these sites have to monitor their boards to some extent and with the exception of the last few days, LIW has been the most leniant with us...but we are kinder than some other brides (for the most part)
